thats why they put a steaming hot towel on your face before you get a propper shave. i've never had one but my dad did in america and said it was the best shave ever.

It wont close them fully no.
Steam from the hot towel is what would open them yes.. but just by putting a cold towel/cold water on your face they arent going to close properly

My skin gets much softer and supple when bathed in hot water (without flannel). It ges much stiffer and tort when cold water is applied.
Got to remember, shower, pores open, shave, hot water to remove any excess dirt, shaving foam, then give a minute, then wash face in cold water.
Not saying its right, but after many years, this is what works for me.

In all seriousness I cant shave in a morning, I get really itchy and red too, I wouldnt say its as bad as shaving rash just really uncomfy, I use a shite razor though
