don't get one if you care about mpg or build quality.
st3 is 4 a seater and has leather recaro's and a sculpted rear seat whereas the st2 and st have cotton recaro's and a non sculpted rear seat which can seat 5.
dont expec anything more than 20mpg around town and you'll get 200 miles to a tank (55 litres).
brilliant power delivery and torque, very smooth and useable.
even with traction control turned off on mine, i can only get wheelspin for a split second and then grip like mad.
if you want to know anything else just let me know.
and don't get it in orange, you always get people calling you a wanker if you overtake them

In which case, VX220T, or A similar spec Lotus, (190 is the matching model??).
VXR over ST for me. Faster
i challenge you down the back lanes to beat me in the vxr (if yours is standard)

oh and i'd rather get a 5 year old m3 or something to be honest.
the car's great don't get me wrong, but i've had so many warranty problems with it, and now my sideskirts are falling off and dash is craking when i'm on boost.

I've got a rattle in the dash on my VXR which is annoying the hell out of me!!!
Not had it back on warrenty for anything yet tho.

i prefer it like that though, the powers spread out so its not all in one hit, the max torque figure comes in very low (1600rpm, 236lb/ft iirc) so it don't take long to realise you're doing at least double the limit.
everyone likes it different though, but if you seriously were going to get an st, get it in blue or black as these colours looks so nice and understated.

I say fuck it and get orange, if you are buying a hot hatch, you might as well shout about it. I like the orange.
I don't like the wheels on the ST tho. Thats probably the only thing I don't like.
As for power delivery, smooth is nice, my VXR is all over the place and has a few flats spots, and doesn't really start performing until 4000rpm. But a remap will soon sort that out.

I was going to suggest a VXR. I see quite a few about on the roads.
Also have you looked at A3's? You can get 2/3 yr old 2.0 diesels with DSG boxs for 9K! 2.0 T FSI petrols (200bhp) with DSG are around same price too

an a3 is more a comfortable hatchback than a hot hatch.
s3 is in the hot hatch category.

DSG is ok as long as you accept you are never fully in control even if you are using the paddles. If it thinks you are getting too close to the redline it will change up a gear which isn't ideal when you are going round a corner.

I'll challange you round a race track yeah. I won't on the public roads, i've seen the way ALL Essex boys drive, dangerously I don't wish to be punted into that tree.
VXR is such a bad handler, that why it keep winning Dunlop sports car cup, in front of Nissan 350Zs etc.... VXR's do handle

Daimo a track VXR is very different to that of the road car
Standrd for standard the ST has the more fluid chasis and put the power down better. You cannot argue with the motoring press especially EVO who almost dictate how well perfomance cars sell!
Not saying the Astra VXR is bad at what it does but the Focus gets a more glowing report and Ford ALWAYS drive better than Vauxhalls even in standard poverty specs

Nahh I know the ST's a great car. Probably would out-handle the Astra on the road. Astra gets a little skittish when pushed hard on the highways. Its much MUCH more settled on track though without the big potholes mid bend
I no longer have the VX blinkers on Just those sh1tty car blinker things. 2 wheels FTW
