Really really upsetting to read, and if Im honest its my biggest fear, nothing worse than things happening to the people you care about most
the last thing that should be on your mind is blaming yourself,
I hope she recovers soon

Thoughts are with you and your girlfriend, I hope she makes it.
I understand the kind of things you are probably feeling, having gone through them myself recently. You need to be with your friends and family, worst thing is to be alone.

Bloody hell Stan.
She has youth on her side. She's bound to be a fighter too. Both of these factors will help.
As said, do whatever feels right and be there for her and her family.
I look forward to reading some positive news in this thread.

Sorry to here that mate.
As you said, I wouldn't know what to do either, but all I say is do what people on here have said, and stay by her side.
I hope she has a full recovery, and my thoughts are with you, your gf and her family.

UPDATE
She was transferred to Edinburgh Western General hospital on Monday, but then moved to Edinburgh Infirmary where they have better othopaedic surgeons to work with her brokes bones.
She spent 9 hours in theater getting her arm and legs pinned and plated. (They also found she has a broken pelvis too, but that will heal itself) They are now fixed and just need to heal. The surgeon said it went very well.
She has had a pipe drilled into the front of her head to monitor the pressure due to the brain damage.
The pressure is said to be not as high as it was once first thought, which is good news.
She is still unconscious but she will be left for a day or so after her stint in theater.
Shes doing great.
Ive got a picture of her car and the van and its a miracle she got out of the car at all, let alone alive. Litterally took my breath away when i saw it. I had to sit down for a minute. The ambulance / fire brigade crews deserve a medal for getting her out of that the way they did. The car is unrecogniseable.
So looking onwards, she just needs time to rest and hopefully come round.
Slowly slowly though.
Thanks for the comments guys and gals. Really means alot at this hard time.
