got a new cabling job coming up in manchester, the electrician that got us the job told my boss that some of the office staff have appeared in nuts, i hope i'm not disasppointed

andy we just quoted a cabling job, 21 man days+equipment and it came out at 25k

21 days? how much is getting done?

the biggest cabling/installation we have was last year that all in all cost £40k. £15k of that was on 12 computers alone

basically you have a fixed loom going from the switches to one side of the patching frame

then you have another fixed loom running from the floor ports to the other side of the patching frame

then you interconnect everything using patch cables at the CPI frame.

oh, that makes sense, just never heard it called a CPI frame before, thats what we've been doing at this recent job, alot of points put in but very easy cabling FTW

yeh, normally you have a loom going frmo the floor ports to a patch panel which sits directly above the switches, thats abit pony really.

quite alot to get your head around, depends if you to know all full 7 layers or not. We interviewed a chap once who used to work at Bupa and all he knew was layers 1 and 2 which is basically cables and switching, didnt know much about routing, application etc.

apparently not, the place i've just been talking about used to be looked after a guy who was hopeless, his full time job was to fit windows, every now and then he would look after people's computers because he used one once in 1985. needless the say the place was a shambles

so im not exspecting to go into it str8 away obvs. wouldnt mind being a network consultant tho,
takes so many years.

Yeah, I realised that when I kind of drove there. Essex wannabe's

But yes, it was good thanks. Traffic on the M25 though luckily was the otherside. Pretty much slow moving and standstill from Dartford to South Mimms
