Looks like you had a good time

Out of interest how much does it cost roughly to go to the ring maybe thinking of doing it next year

Well...

Ferry return per car = £42.

So me and my passenger split this

Then 270 miles from ferry to ring. So 1 tank of fuel getting there, 1 back.

8 lap ticket = £93

Fuel while out there whatever...

Hotel for 3 nights = £80 ish

Meal / Food / Beer = £50-£100

If you have a good passenger who splits cost of fuel even better.

So say

£20 ferry each
£25 petrol each getting there
£93 lap ticket myself
£25 petrol each while out there
£80 hotel
£80 food / drink (we got drunk)
£25 petrol getting back

£340 ish minimum ... probably more like £500 with sharing with a passenger

or more without...

if you do lots of laps obviously it gets more expensive.

That's nothing when you look at what you get to do and how much fun it must be, I'd love to do it :-)

exactly... you could do it so cheap.

Or so expensive depending on how many laps you do or armco you replace.

Especially if you're not too far from dover, it's definately worth doing.

I'd love to do it on my bike but could see myself pushing it too hard and forgetting I still have a long way to get home!

Note the guy I wrote about is a biker who's been around thousands of times... infact I noticed he's on the top gear 'jag nurburgring' episode clarkson talks to him near the start.

If he still comes off (due to fluids on the track) - then it shows you what risk you have on a bike.

Most of the closures were due to bikers going down, including 1 closure for about 2 hours on the sunday where 4 bikers were killed in 1 incident.

I personally would never go there on a bike. Car = an extra level of safety.

[quote name='Craig!' date='Jul 17 2008, 17:59 ' post='756293']
May I just add that were was no fatal accidents at all this weekend gone, there was a bad accident on the Sunday afternoon which lead to a 2 hour closure, and then at 19:15 there was another bad spate of crashes involving 5 bikes in 3 different sections of the track.

One known as Bren (northloop.co.uk) is serious, but will recover its in ICU at the moment, but from whats been posted he was in surgery today having his hip rebuilt / replaced.

Just clears the air a bit, we also heard about the biker death but it was the usual 'ring-whispers' that get out of hand, one small off goes to 15 down, 2 dead and 11 injured.
