Im sorry but if you hit something solid at anything over 50mph the chances are you wont walk again.
i dont buy this dont break bullshit, for starters if you knew you were going to crash and were a decent rider youd put the bike on the floor and slide to try and avoide hitting it (most prob an car)
I used to work in bike insurance and IMO (and not aimed at anyone on hear) most bikers talk more shit than kiddies in 1.2 kitted up corsa's who recon they have done a 'skyline'

Here's the pics (I'm home now).
Ignore the chav gear -- we were working on the bike (changed the clutch):
Front wheel locked:

Kept it going...

Yes, it's a short burst, but it's the only pic I have.
Believe me now?

Not you. VXR said, and I quote:

If you locked the front wheel, 98% of the time you will go straight down. I know, from experience!!!!!

Oh and if you look next to the curb, you'll see another skid mark but we didn't get any pics of me doing that one.

I would rather loose my licence then my life.
But I will try this no braking theory next time and come back with some results.
Sri Luke you look like a scooter boy with that gear on..
Reminds me of Zest.

It's worst than it sounds. You know you're going to hit them anyway, and if you're holding the brakes on you'll get your hands chopped off if they hit the car. Just let go at the last second and try and position yourself so you'll go over the top nicely.
And as I said, we were working on the bike so I chucked some old clothes on.

Oh and just to continue this. Another reason why it's bad to brake hard when avoiding a car... If you do lock up the front, and go down, you're sliding straight into the car rather than just flipping over the top. I've walked away from all of my car collisions so I'll stick to it...

It's just common sense dude. If you're gunning it, and a car pulls out, and there's no gap -- there's nothing you can do.
Options are:
1) Slam on, take some speed away, possibly loose the front and slide into the car and have a dead impact. Possibly leave skid marks... Licence gone. Possibly loose your hands due to the clip-ons crushing against the car (as I've shown).
2) Brake but don't lock up... Licence will be fine (no proof), no chance of sliding into the car. Position the bike for their bonnet so you can go over the top, let go of the bars and get ready for take off!
What would you choose?

I'd choose to miss the car
I dunno how you can 'not' brake, instinct kicks in for me too much and I just grab a handful of brake, probably the reason I went down twice due to people pulling out but hey, I won both claims
Poor Tony R6 is proper fucked.

Yeah, but you weren't (overly) speeding -- there's a difference from doing 40mph and 90mph. You probably had a chance to stop, or at least a gap to aim for (I know this because the road you crashed on is extremely wide and there'd be a gap somewhere). If you know you're gunna hit them 100% -- what's the point? It was different in your situation because you didn't hit them. Obviously you'd brake if you weren't 100% sure that you're going to hit them. The point of not braking is to avoid skid marks for the Police to measure and to avoid more damage to yourself (when colliding with the car). If you're not going to collide, it's completely different... You went down due to locking the front wheel. If you were overly speeding you would have slid straight into the car. Luckily, you weren't.

Why does speeding make me deluded?
Are you fucking backwards?
I'd agree about the time and the place, but by telling someone not to speed is just silly when you're buying a performance car. We both know full well you'll exceed the speed limit at some point.

Overly? I wasn't speeding at all!
In the first accident it was down to in-experience. 2nd time it was that or hit the car, and I really didn't fancy hitting the car.

yes, but i won't be doing 90mph in a 30mph limit. like you said 40mph in a 30mph limt is a whole different ball game compared to 90mph in a 30.

You'd stop faster with brakes and rubber contact than it sliding on shiny plastic so if it managed to stop in time whilst sliding you easily had enough time to stop using your brakes.

Not in the wet.
It doesn't skid that much if it digs in, handlebars etc, which is what it did.

Your words were "stop speeding" -- 31mph in a 30mph zone is considered speeding. Try and be a little more accurate if you want people to understand your opinion.

i said quit speeding actually. it is a mugs game.
keep doing it if you want, but one day it will catch up with you and i'll be laughing at you when i'm enjoying freedom and you're locked up after running over a kid who just happened to run into the road all too quickly for you to stop.
you can't fly over a kid.
i can't change your opinions, but one day you will grow up.

Have you never seen that advertisement where a kid gets hit at 40mph and dies, but lives at 30mph?
You just said 40mph in a 30mph zone is OK.

i also said it's a whole different ball game.
hitting them at 90mph will disintegrate them.
hitting them at 40mph wont.
