if its a private company, you just ignore them.
Parking tickets issued by wardens, you pay.
Parking fines issued by the local council you pay.
Private companys only use scare tactics, there was a panorama program about it a while back.

That's a different story then. Council ones i'd pay, yeah, but not private. This credit rating crap from a private one is just scare tactics totally.

Surely if the private company somehow manages to take you to court and wins you'd then end up with a black mark against your name?
Not worth risking imo if that's the case.

Where are these black marks kept out of interest?

If you get taken to court and lose? Are you being serious?

Why would you get a black mark in that unlikely position?
Its a fine unpayed, youd be made to pay it and pay costs, nothing else?but unless they have proof who the driver was they have no case?
And then theres loads of other legal stuff even if they did know who was driving, correctly placed signs stating contract agreement etc etc

The fact you refused to pay fines initally after being warned numerous times and had to be forced into proceedings? Surely that would be documented somewhere?
Like i say i'm not to clued up on it tbh but i wouldn't be chancing getting declined for a mortgage in later life for the sake of £40

I was fined for drunken disorderly, forgot to pay it. they took me to court and made me pay it and i never had a black mark of bad credit rating?
Just seems like your the kind of person private companys prey on, by scaring you into paying it.

Why didnt you just park up and pay the £1ish for 30 mins/an hour?

Even if they did put the £40 on your credit record, which they wont, I highly doubt you'd get declined a mortgage because of it. People get declined credit because of CCJ's and defaulting on credit cards, not parking tickets.

In the current climate banks aren't in the business of handing out vast sums of money to people with problems in their credit history, that's only going to get worse.
For peace of mind and to save going to court i'd pay the £40, would you not?

It's not a council one, no point arguing with them in most cases.
I've had one letter saying i better pay, now this one is saying final notice before they take me to court.
I'm 90% sure that it's just scare tactics but I wouldn't like to be proved wrong tbh.
If they take you to court and you lose it goes down against you afaik, if they don't bother taking you to court its not noted down anywhere, I know that.

These are the idiots that are chasing me up.
http://www.walkerlove.co.uk/recoveries/
This site seems to be the same people, the logo etc matches what is on my letter.
This no win no fee business makes me think they use them because it doesn't cost anything if I don't pay.
Has anybody ever been taken to court by these people?

Thread digging I know, but just thought I'd update. They sent me letters for a while demanding that I pay up or I'll be sent to court, and after a month or so, the letters stopped.
John, did they actually take you to court in the end?
