Nope it is not, but less than half the price of a brand new M3 too his days of owning M3's have passed, had a bad accident in a work van years ago and knocked him for 6!
Its the new 318i M Sport, with lots of toys also has the current E90 320i engine (same as what he's got now)

Week 36 last year they got more power from the 320i and used the previous 320i map in the current 318i
318i was 129bhp ---> Now 143
320i was 143bhp ---> Now 170
Both the same engines, so in theory can have it mapped to 170bhp (ish) which probs get done, after black or carbon kidney grills and AC Schnitzer roof spoiler

318i will be nice I'd imagine. The latest 2.0d engine is pretty damn good though.
Dad has gone from an E46 M3 to a 120d M Sport 3 door, and loves it, saying it has more than enough power.

Coolios
I love the way the entire BMW series is built on 2 engines on both petrol and diesel but with a million variants
318/320 i/d - 2l 4-pot
325/330/335 i/d - 2.5l S6

Not as good as the VAG dervs IMO, well, it depends what you want. If you want to snap your neck bone with torque, the VAG is the way forward. If you want to waft up the motorway, the BMW is the way forward

Yeh plenty torque, just not as fun to drive as a petrol, took one out the other week (320d) and was nice but was no revvy petrol engine which is why it was a big NO NO!
Part Ex price on the 320i is shocking too £14k off in just over 2 years!

No I'd have to disagree there Pow Pow Pow.... i was after a 320d saloon last year and then a 325d Coupe and test drove both... the 320 at the tuime was 183bhp and silly torque and the 325d 197bhp and mad torque... they were both immense engines!!!! Wina lot fo industry awartds as well
My neighbour has a lovely 335d Coupe and hes quite a mentalist... that thing is not far off low end supercar pace!!

Dad just went for the 120d for economical reasons and business reasons. Plus I'd imagine it'd be better to drive on a long distance but have no idea.
