106 gti is indeed the 2nd best handling car in the world.
but all this stuff about beating CTR's, EVO's around tracks and stuff.
at the end of the day, I would happily take a evo8 that did 0-60 in 10 secs and handled like a shoppin trolley than a souped up 106.

What, the GTi had full stainless, de-cate, 4-2-1 and Viper induction or the CTR? Either way that CTR driver can't drive worth a shite. Even with those mods the chances of it being blown away like that are SLIM.

One that does 0-60 in 10 seconds sounds pretty special too Dan, that was a poor attempt at throwing bait

There is no replacement for displacement.
Sure a small cc may beat a larger cc on a 1/4 mile dragstrip....
But sit in 4th at 50mph and go to top end, i know what i'd bet my penny on

Overall will be down to the driver. I would say the civic may have the edge and will pull away 80+.
I have a clio172 and ctr's are equal to mine and find 106's pretty equal but i have an edge.

A proper test of a cars performance is 0-100, what are the figures for them both?
http://www.letstorquebhp.com/ reckons:
106GTI - 23.81
Type R - 16.85

Both cars are owned by people who are obsessed with what they will and wont beat
my clio has beaten and lost to some gti's and beaten and lost to some ctr's, it means fuck all what youve beaten up the slip road etc

Spot on. At the end it comes down to the driver, who has the balls.

yeah they also reckon my fabia does 0-100 in 30 seconds its because those times are based on there calculator and dont take things lik torque into account.
my fabia has the same 50-120 as a bmw 330

Then compare torque?

who fucking cares...
Will - you wanna find out what's quicker? go race one...
If you lose, either make your car quicker and beat one, or save up for a CTR.
