Get rid of road tax, put tax on fuel. Use more fuel, pay more tax. Super duper.

People seem to think that tax is a bad thing-- it is tax that pays for all our public services, roads, refuse, health, emergency services... if we want these to improve then we must accept that we need to pay more tax.
The best way to get more tax income is to tax the rich higher and the poor lower-- increasing tax on prestige cars can only be a good thing.,... we should also be raising tax massively on second homes, people earning over 200k per year ect.

The problem with this is that you will be taxing the rich and the poor exactly the same..... this is what these new tax rules are trying to avoid.

Yes but its a fair system. I do about 6,000 miles a year. Why should I pay as much as someone who does Triple or more than me?
My dad has 2 V8 cars which are nearly new, yes they use alot of fuel, emissions etc. But he does about 5,000 miles a year in them so will be poluting less than your average sales rep doing 50k a year or more?
Its my theory and its a fair one, it won't happen but it'd be nice.

I also disagree with taxing the rich, why should they get penalised for bettering themselves, they should tax only people on benefits, that would sort it out.

I just think everyone should be taxed the same, if you do well in life off your own back why should the government take a load of it back.
I'm not normally one to moan and get into these debates but something needs sorting in this country.

What would it sort out? It would increase the gap between rich and poor even greater than it is now. Crime would go up, infant death would increase, drug use would increase - it would make it even harder for people born into poverty to get out of poverty.
I think it is obscene that the people at the head of companies like shell, powergen ect are earning billions ofpounds and at the same time increasing the bills of their customers- these are the people that I would target ... and also those who inherit millions of pounds.

The only reason tax is going up is because labour have single handedly spent all of the UK's money and are now broke. De to the lavish lifestyle their MP's lead housing benefits etc etc etc
If they want transport to improve, then why doesnt it? Trains are far worse round here than they were 10years ago.
Bus's are still late, not showing up leaving people abandoned.
The ideal of a society where everyone just uses public transport is nothing more than a dream and highly unrealistic.
It took me 1hr 30mins to get from work to my house when i took the train the other day.
It takes me 25mins by car. (in traffic, it takes about 7mins in the evening)

you seem to be suggesting that everone in this country is born with the same chances in life as everyone else.
The statistics show that if you are born into poverty you will stay in poverty throughout your life, whereas if you are born into wealth you will be wealthy throughout you life.
Tax is a way of leveling out everyones opportunities in life.
The countr would be far better if we had a much steeper sliding scale of tax -- everthing would improve... including law and order.

What a fuking stupid thing to say- the problem is that this is exactly what the head of shell and others like him are doing.
Earning obscene amounts of money at our expense

I certainly dont rate the job labour have done-- but they had an impossible job on their hands after the conservatives had cut tax and let our public services go to rack and ruin... the neglect of the tories during the 80's and 90's isgoing to take decades to fix.

Why should it be a level playing field, if my parents work their arses off to provide for me and my sisters why shouldn't they be able to give it to us. Why should the government take it and give it to people who don't give a shit.
Everyone is capable of making money, its down to themselves if they want to earn it.

Thats my point-- they probably would have been if we introduced your great system of taxing the poor higher than the rich , cutting benefits ect... surely you have just backed up the point I am making?
At the moment it is possible to get out of the poverty trap-- as the gap between rich and poor increases this becomes more and more difficult-- you were suggesting taxing benefite- would that of helped your family out of poverty? As the wealth gap increase you must tax the highest bracket of earnings more to reduce this gap- it is the only way.
