Why would this stop people smoking?

When i was smoking i used to buy mine off a guy down the road at £3.50 a pack, cant see him asking for any permit and i smoked for ten years age 14 - 24 never once bought in a shop

And my brother still smokes,he buys amber leaf at £4 a pouch for 50gs

I know quite a few people who sell it cheap.

Bring the same rule in for alcohol, to balance it out. Why the fuck should smokers get made out to be something worse than they are?
All they'd achieve would be more people buying dodgy cigarettes and less from proper outlets.

Someone having a few drinks does no harm to those around them (if they stick to the law).

Where as those smoking, even a few, do.

Unlucky for smokers.

As usual, drink doesn't directly give you cancer in the same quantities as fags and it also doesn't give everybody around them cancer either.

Drinking is just as damaging to those around the addicted as smoking.

You never hear of a nicotine fuelled rampage on the news, driving under the influence of nicotine isn't illegal either...

Alcohol accounts for a large percentage of visits to A+E, in fact, I'd be amazed if the figure for alcohol related hopspitalisation wasn't larger than that for smoking related.

But drinking is fine. Getting pissed and attacking people isn't damaging to other people's health at all.

Because drunk people are loud, aggressive, annoying, and have no problem smashing glasses, bottles etc. I've never been punched or intimidated by someone who's just been smoking, although have been several times by people who are drunk.
Smokers have been forced outside, so you don't have to breathe their smoke in anymore anyway.
