I actually understand where you are coming from. If i worked 10 miles away i'd have a shitter to get me about and to play with.

Mk2 golf, if serviced at correct intervals it is not unusual for them to breeze past 200k and I have heard of a fair few making 300k without major problems.

The mk2's are good on fuel...think 40mpg is easily achieved on the combind cycle if not ragged everywhere!

mk4 polo i got one last week for 460 with 8 months mot 3 months tax diesel 130k in very good condition seen a few about at around 500-700

two exaples both 550
