No. No-one can reply.

Anything else is programming which I don't have the time for. I'm actually rather annoyed about it. I don't like prohibiting replies and it really is a last resort to faffing around banning people.

I think it ultimately reduces the amount of genuine information, encourages fraud and disinformation and prevents buyers from managing their own adverts properly.

I also really despise the fact that it is brought about by people who can't kindly keep quiet.

In a way I can see why people prohibit replies in Classifieds on forums, but at the same time it irritates the fuck out of me as a seller, because you get people asking the same questions over and over through u2u, whereas if 1 person asked the question in the thread and got a reply, then everyone else can see it and won't need to ask again. If that makes sense.

On a few forums I've used, if replies are prohibited, once you've posted you cannot reply, and edit is usually included in that therefore they wouldn't be able to edit. Unless Ian has incorporated it.

Try it. Its a base code feature so I've no idea how it works. You should be able to trash once you've tested it. If not I will.

There's usually big messages across the top saying only reply if you're interested in the car etc. Keeps it clean, and generally people listen.

This happens on Cliosport, Mig and CLubpolo are a couple of quick ones I can think of.

Edit the post if you need to, if it lands on page 10 just copy the ad content, delete & post it again. Seems a good idea, no one needs 6 paged of comments like 'nice car budday, if only I had cash' etc in a for sale post......nice one.
