Not read what everyone has put but.....

My mate has the 1.4 twinport and so for he is impressed with it. It has full leather, CC and lots of other kit. It's not the fasted thing on the road but he says it's nippy enough for him.

He lives about 2 miles away from work

How the fuck?

Do you have a RR printout to prove it?

rr printouts are far from proof, they just serve as a means of being able to point and laugh at the companies rr accuracy andrew took his car too

i know when are people gonna learn you dont get 17bhp from an exhaust and filter, esp on a small 1400cc engine, just because some dodgy rolling roads say so

But he might have slipped with his hand drawing in the results.

I could have happened.

Or was he looking at the 1.2's BHP??

possibly lol

and before anyone jumps in with the, 'im only replying to cause trouble' record thats been playing since 1975, im replying so the poor lad doesn't go out and buy one in the hope that he spends a few quid and will dramatically alter the cars performance because of some misinformed information on the internet

P.s, you do know it was Andrew who said that he got 105 from his 1.4?

I thought that these twinports were understated. Thought that the books said 90 but it was more like 95 - 100?

So even if the Rollers are correct. Who's to say that the starting figure is correct?

im also going to side with the book figure, iirc twin port can in no possible way help performance over the non twin port

again whats probably happened is people have taken there standard cars to rr's got 10bhp more from nothing and assumed because its twin port its magic

I've just checked Parkers (fool proof). It says 88 bhp for the 1.4 and 78 for the 1.2.

What i'm putting accross is that these may be wrong.

If only he went to the RR before he had done any mods, then we would have had something to compare it to.

Otherwise 105 is neither here nore there.

Hang on, you do 6 miles a day

Thanks about 70p a day in fuel?

If you got an extra 10 miles to the gallon you would save about 10p a day in fuel

10 x 20 working days a month = £2 a month saved

I would only be bothered about fuel if I was doing 50 miles a day, which I do, not 6

i enjoy driving my 1.7 although on shorter journeys it isnt really economical. if you rag it you can almost see the fuel needle going down!!

but longer journeys at about 75-85 mph its very economical and quiet

My guess is wooly101uk that your braking and accellerating all the time and your car is hurrendously overfueling! 160 miles on £40 of fuel????
My Rx-7 driven hard managed to get 130 miles to £30, driven economiclly I got to Newquay on about just short of £60 and thats 370 miles!!!!!!
Get a rotary they're the most economical cars around

Oh and when I had my Corsa C 1.8 Sri I was getting about 130 miles to 20 litres of V-Power, thats everyday sort of driving. My run-a-round Nova saloon 1.2 8v gets about 100 miles to a tenner, and thats with the extorsionate fuel prices.

yes mate thats all im doin is brakeing and accellerating all the time on my short journeys.im not sure if its because i almost have to floor it to get it to get anywhere.

if i got a 1.4 sxi or sri i shouldnt have to press the pedal that far down to make it move should i? so i wouldnt use as much fuel

Steve is right here. However, the engine went pop shortly after and was rebuilt, may have been something to do with that even.

Not going to argue over a bit of metal. I've sold the Corsa and moved on.
