No, just don't say God isn't real.
He can do WTF he wants with his kids, but he could have told his son not to mention it in front of other kids, instead of ruining if for loads of them.
He may well of told him not to say anything, but he is 4. Not like he is really going to listen and not say anything is it.
if he feels he's old enough to know these things surely he's old enough to STFU about them?

I agree with that, and agree with having a word with the guy too. Just dont see the big problem people seem to have with him telling his son that Santa isnt real - its his choice and he shouldnt be limited in his choices because other parents want to lie to their kids.

yes because lieing to your kids for years is fantastic parenting
i agree in part. Just dont see why the school has an issue with it.
It's hardly a lie of epic proportions is it!! It's a bit of fun rather than well your sisters actually your mum or something.

his Dad will probably treat him better than a fat man in a white beard giving them a shitty little present tbh.

I have.
I know if I told any of my nieces or nephews to keep something quiet when they were 4, they would have.
The eldest is 8, she still believes in Santa, is this bad parenting? No.

that wasnt the point, you said that if he was old enough to know then he was old enough to STFU about it - which isnt the case with 4yr olds as they dont shut up about anything

No, I agree, but making them understand that respecting other people's beliefs is important.

exactly, i think you went about dealing with the the wrong way though, you shouldnt have tried to force the fact he does exist, infront of all the adults and other children, that would just make him feel belittled.
you should have asked him to keep quiet then had a word after with his dad and him

Yeah that's the best time to teach them! If you let them run around being little fuckers at that age then you're never going to recover it.

Yep, as early as possible, then you don't end up with a family of happy slappers.

No, I understand its the best time, but trying to inform a 4yr old of your own beliefs, let alone those of others and respecting them, isnt exactly something understood by all.

when your 4yrs old father christmas should exist = fact!
when you get older you can understand it was all a con and deal with it better

maybe i should have gone about it differently but what about the kids that heard him say that? their faces dropped and they all looked gutted.
