I see your point exactly, they're both lovely cars. But is it really worth another £3K for an extra 40bhp? I don't think it is. But if money wasn't an issue it'd be the one i would have.

plus i actually prefer the seats in mine compared to the buckets in the 180
also if i was spending the extra money i would have been looking at different cars tbh

Ive had both a phase 2 VTS and now own a 206 GTi 138, anyone who thinks the VTS/106 GTi will trounce the the 206 is dreaming. My phase 2 VTS was quicker than my friends phase 2 VTS, but when we had a play me in my 206 him in his VTS we were dead level all the way, Over 100 I think the 206 would take it, more torque due to the engine capacity. The GTi 180 isnt actually much quicker on the road over the 138, also the 206 GTi only weighs 1040 Kg so not much more than a VTS/106 GTi.

Well his VTS cant be all that cause i trounced a 138 bhp Gti in my VTS and that was to 120 on a private road ofcourse.

How can you trounce a car with more power even though its slightly heavier which negates the power advantage?, you would need a lot more power to trounce something, more than 50bhp thats for sure, Another lad I knew had a Phase 1 GTi 6, couldnt gain an inch on my VTS, and against my GTi wasnt gaining, but the GTi 6 is a bit of a lard arse for a small hatch, he now has a phase 2 Rallye but he said theres not much difference.

just wanted to say, not slagging off any of these cars as they are all great cars, performance between them all is so marginal due to weight, which is why the VTS/106 GTi's get compared with other cars, I was dissapointed when I went from VTS to 206 GTi, but the 206 is around the same speed but a much more comfortable place to be.

I hate all this "i can beat a (whatever) in my (whatever)"
Its normally a conversation had by young lads that race around on the public highway thinking everyone is competing with them

yer its funny how the arguments happen, and everyone defends their car to the death, end of the day its a lump of metal with an engine in. I used to think everyone was racing me when I first passed 4 and a bit years ago, hated being overtaken as I saw it like a race, nowadays I couldnt care less and just let them get on with it, had a few too many near misses where you think that was dull could of wrote the car of etc.. I think its something to do with age

Im not defending my car, i dont even own a vts, im just saying that i pulled a good 5 - 6 car lengths on a 138 bhp one to 120.
Ive drove a 138 bhp, my mate works at peugeot so comes home with them sometimes, and it was really sluggish in the way it drove too, and i had a play with that one and it was quite easy to just stay with even if he got the power done well before me.
And if your refering to me, i dont race everything on the road, infact i dont bother with much at all, however if something comes up behind me etc that looks like it could be a good match ill give it ago

more charecter, more flimsy, more basic, more of a drivers car and probably faster and better handling thats why 205 over 206 and 207!
106 nearly has this so for me its better than the 206. i like 106s and i reckon they out perform the 206 in more than straightlines and shit but in how fun they are (im guessing not driven either)
