Imagine comparing a 1.6 16v Corsa Sport to a 1.6 16v Fiesta Zetec S. I know what I'd rather have.

my mates 1.25 wipes the floor with my 1.2 i mean literally, off the line its close but as soon as i take 2nd hes gone

16v though, so hardly a fair comparison but I reckon a 1.25 Fiesta is still faster than a 1.2 16v Corsa.

Them Zetec engines are notoriously fast though.

That's why I'm surprised the Zetec S, being described as 'slow' is a bit strange, because my missus' was far from it.

It's the smooth delivery that does it I think Deano.

And, they look better than a normal MK5 Fiesta.

Where as a 1.6 16v Sport Corsa looks no different to a standard one, apart from door badges and spoiler.

You know, that really pissed me off about the Sport, although it was pretty good at the same time, coz no-one knew what was under the bonnet

Heater control valves
Rusty sills
Dodgy fogs

Common faults apparently.

front fog lights are near impossible to replace - so make sure they're not broken

I still haven't found one 7/8 months on - I've had the bigger triangular Zetec model ones delivered, Scrapyard/breakers never have them in; ZSOC hasn't had any for sale; motor factors cant get them and ford were useless

Are they similar to Focus ST170's? Might be an idea. . .

Nope would have the VTR hands down any day of the week! Not even funny how much quicker the Saxo is! The feel and response it gives is in another league.

Before anyone slates me I have driven both cars back to back and can make a fair judgement!

Zetec S is good out out of the box as an every day car, handling is sweet but performance is VERY lacklustre

But as Steve says anything you go to from a Corsa will imidiately feel better.

My mums got one, had it from near enough new. Good little car, its had no problems at all, not one thing has gone wrong. (touches wood) Its only done 27000 miles too. Look so much better than most top spec hatches in its class.

I used to drive it when my Corsa broke down, handles well, but felt slow coming from an XE.

they are slow for what they are.

I agree,my best mate has the ST and i feel they are overated in term of speed for what they are,

the fiesta st is much more luxurious inside compared to a 106, also looks 100x better to look at. you can say that about any old car, an old starlet gt turbo is quicker than an st150 but the fiesta st is a much better drive and you get so much more comforts for your money.

it's like saying an old r32 skyline is faster than a new bmw. it's not all about speed, it's about comfort, the drive and the experience.

if i wanted a fast car i would've bought an older, less expensive car that was quick, but i wanted a nice, smooth and very good looking car so fiesta was perfect choice

i'd much rather have a fiesta st then a 106 gti IMO as it's newer and have more things to offer inside. only got 5 months to wait

a mate has a 1.25 with a wank bodykit, still pulls hard for what it is even with the big wheels on.
