Not related to the cruise however, this year saw the release of the RB320 Impreza in memory of richard burns.

Perhaps we will see another McRae edition impreza in the future, for me personaly that is a proper 'tribute'.

because its all for the wrong reasons, you dont honour someones death by kevving around in cars, it angers me that people are using mcraes death as an excuse, its the pretence

also with regards to the other convoy that happened, im sure the family would have minded them lot driving behind the funeral convoy like they were planning

What were they gonna do to their cars for that? Sprinkle some blood and hair in the boot of each vehicle?

where does it mention a convoy to the funerl?

i see a convo to the McRae stages, which is a rally in the highlands, been going for years now

if you dont wanna go steve dont go, you voiced your opinion on page 1, why keep ramming it down peoples throat?

do you think every1 is gonna say, ah steve your right, no1 will go anymore, we'll all stay home, knit jumpers and watch corrie

stfu,

I noticed this also. I guess scots see McCrae as 'their' hero and that this gives them a superiority complex in levelling comments about the whole thing?

got to agree with steve and nik, far better ways to tribute the man.

People seem to be forgetting the tradgedy that his 5 year old son was killed along with 2 others.

unless there is going to be some kind of entry fee/donations etc i think it is a bad idea

Would be far better donatiing to charity or starting up some kind of mcrae fund etc for future rally drivers etc

IMO

did you read what was said ?? his son has been mentioned.. acually i will post it again for your pleasure..

quote:
"I am almost certain it will not have escaped the attention of any Scot who visits this website that one of this country's leading sportsmen was taken from us in the most tragic of circumstances last Saturday afternoon. While piloting his helicopter, Colin McRae, accompanied by his young son Johnny and two close friends met with mechanical difficulties which caused the aircraft to ditch close to the McRae family home. There were no survivors.

This event has made a lasting impression on me personally and I know the same is true of many of the members of this site. We are currently working to commemorate Colin McRae's life and pay our respects to him, his son and their friends in the most fitting way we can think of.

At present the plan is to have small decals created which people can affix to their car window in a similar style to that used by Colin on his rally cars, under noted with the years of his life - 1968-2007. Unlike some sick people who are cashing in by selling similar stickers on eBay thanks to John at Evo Graphics we will be able to give these stickers away free of charge. We are also hoping to convoy to the McRae stages in a couple of weeks as a road going tribute to the man who became known the world over for his determination and driving skills.

There is an ongoing thread on our forum where you can read about how our plans are coming along with messages posted by site users about Colin himself."

I personnally don't see a problem with convoying behind the funeral presesion. Its a way of showing your support. One of my pals who drove about near us was killed in work. We held a convoy behind on the way to the church.

My Dad works for a funeral directors and he has done quite a few biker's funerals and he sees it all the time. So i guess differant people have differant ways.

i dont see the problem tbh, mabye its not the best way to mourn but people should be allowed to show there respect in which ever way they want.

i dont see how driving around to show respect is any different to people going to a funeral to stand and show respect, if you go to a funeral you do not give money.

obviously driving past there house is a nusiance but as long as its far away and everything is legal whats the harm.

Im sure your right and not every one will be going purerly to show the man respect and mourn but i bet the majority of people who will be going will have there heart in the right place.

i see it as a mark of respect, dont see how you can see it any other way, people should be allowed to mourn which ever way they want.

just because its not tradisional doesnt meen its wrong, obviously driving behind the funeral is a no go though.
