I suppose you would feel more inclined to pull your weight in a funny way, i.e. with your mates you know you can get away with it now and then. Are you a young professional then and btw how much are you paying, is it worthwhile with the space etc?

Do they know you're there?

Seriously though, does it work ok?

We're all the same kinda age and get on well, plus everyone pulls their weight when it comes to cleaning and stuff, so far so good

Sounds like you've lived there for only a few weeks Give it time

i've been living with 2 mates since january, and i've started to get annoyed now. Once the "honeymoon period" ran out after a month it turned to a fend for yourself type thing.

Me and 1 of the housemates are tidy and clean, the other one isn't though. Doesn't even have a driving liscence despite learning for 5yrs, gets a lift to and from work from me everyday as he works in same town. Also doesn't care about leaving things on/open etc when he goes to bed i have to go down and turn everything off and lock up everything. At first i didnt mind, but its all the time now so prob gonna move back to parents after the year contract is up in january.

Thing is, i'm gonna find it hard being at the parents after a year of not being nagged! Although i've learnt about how stressful it is so need to help out more than i used so, plus i could do with my mum ironing my clothes again! Also thinking of travelling next summer for a bit, and if i move back to parents i save £500 a month which would help with travelling + new car!

Basically the same thing for me, me and my other mate are clean, tidy, turn stuff off etc etc whereas the other mate is driving me crazy, never does washing up, goes to work leaving the washing machine on so we cant do any, and his girlfriend is a twat as well (shes just a chav, we cant see what he sees in her ). Im moving out for my 3rd year at uni, getting a 1 or 2 bed with my GF, see how it goes from there lol

lol scary, exactly the same as me! Although the mate who is tidy/clean etc with me is the one with the annoying immature 17yr old gf! The other one is useless, hes actually just text me and said "bollocks i dont have my house key can i use yours if i come to your work" and i text back "your as useful as a cock flavoured lollypop" and he replied "i only use my key when i need it' so next time i'll pretend im in a meeting and not respond to his text!

I'm kind of teaching him a lesson at the moment, hes been really lazy getting driving lessons etc and just not bothering (probably because he gets lift home and to work from me, and wekeends other people drive) but from this week i've been leaving an hour earlier to go to the gym before work, therefore he has to get a lift with me and hang around for an hour before his work! I'm going to keep it up till he has to take a test, im out for a work meal after work to so he has to get the train home (hour journey and 20min walk home from station) so hopefully after a week or 2 he'll get his ass in gear!

I kind of regret moving out to be honest, i was on the "rebound" after splitting with my gf and thought it would be a fun idea, it was at first until it got out of hand! But like Tom said i need to weigh up if its worth moving back and put up with not having the "freedom" like ive been used to. I probablly will as atm i'm only renting, so wasting money there and i want to travel for a few months so would be easier to do it whilst at home! Plus i'll be able to get a new car to!

Yeah, pretty much. I've been there just over a month so we'll see how it goes

Young professional always sounds wrong, but technically yes I'm paying £400 a month which for Leeds isn't that bad, plus its a REALLY nice place. It'll do until I can afford a place of my own
