Sound like worms..
You can get worming stuff from the supermarket.. How old is the cat? Go outside often?
I'd take it the vets though to makesure, especially with your little one being there.

Hmmm... Vets bill or £1.99 worming tablets. Hard one.
I'll get some tablets and see if it helps, otherwise i'll have it put down.

Diplidium caninum is a segmented tapeworm which lives in the cats small intestine. Each segment of the worm contains maturing eggs. These segments, when passed from the cat, resemble grains of rice, you may even notice them around the cats anus, on the cats coat or bedding. These segments can cause anal irritation and excessive licking of this area.
Possibly
My cat has this, didnt notice for ages, and she had to be put down. Get it checked by a vet mate.
