IMO undertaking is far more illegal than staying in the outside lane. i wonder what a policeman do if he saw a person in the outside lane with car's in front of them and a nutter undertaking them whilst speeding and on the phone.

People like you actually cause congestion though.
So many times the motorway is backed up because somebody thats managed to get a licence can't understand a simple rule like keep left.

Why dont you undertake at speed while on the phone in front of a policeman and report back?

from what Ben is saying, he was in the outter lane MOVING with the traffic at the speed limit (or possibly faster) - ie: was going faster than the traffic in the inner lane. Plus, we're all taught to drive atleast two car lengths behind the car infront of you - which im sure ben was probably a bit closer to than that.
If ben was hogging the outter lane, which he WASN'T, and he wasn't gaining on the car on the inner lane and there was space for him to move over, then yes by law you have move over to let the car behind you through. Otherwise, it goes against whats in the highway code and what we're taught.
Eitherway, if they feel the need to undertake then fucking let them, but like i do, i just dont slow down to the let the dangerous driving badger in infront of me...if it requires me to accelerate a little i will

2.285 + 1 = 3.285.
The policeman would pull YOU over for obstructing traffic.

You should of been in the left hand lane, she wouldn't of had to under take you then. Then this ''road rage'' wouldn't of happened.

When I was younger, having just passed, I was pulled over for having the same thought as you.
The person who undertook me wasn't.

aye, unless ben was hogging the outter lane, there it was clear infront of him and was doing less than the speed limit (which wasn't the case in this scenario) then he would get done for obstructing traffic.
But the fact remains that he was over taking traffic at the speed limit, it isn't againt the law and she would have got done for undertaking and then done for talking on the mobile

Seriously? its good to know that, to be honest, them dealing with the actual problem rather than going for the easy option of pulling the undertaker.
Imagine pulling up the undertaker, you would actually shit your pants if you had to arrest him.

you werent in the wrong if you were over taking traffic on the inner lane and doing the speed limit.
Saying that though, if the next car on the inner lane is 1/2 mile away then yea i can understand that you should pull in , but if its only a few car lengths, and you're rapidly gaining on them, then you're clearly over taking - which is not against the law.

I was doing the speed limit, there was about 3 car lengths gap to my left which I wasn't in.
Person behind me was going faster, I refused to speed up or pull in, as there was a car in front of me.
The car behind the one which undertook me was a marked police car...

rapidly gaining
He drives a 1.2 so its safe to assume that there was no "rapid gaining" going on. On a more serious note woeful performance cars should be illegal, too dangerous, i used to hate my 1.poo i think they should be banned.
