Jay have you ever heard of other people having an opinion? Just because you like Cosworths better doesn't mean Evo's or Scoob's are "shit" cars, are "chav" and they do sound fantastic

Older Scoobs have now got the chav image as they are coming down in price to be the same as your average Saxo VTS. Newage Scoobs and newer Evo's aren't chavy though

I agree, but give it time. They cant afford them just yet. Only middle aged supermarket managers with no common sense who want a fast car by the newer ones.

I feel the lack of over 50 motorsport enthusiasts on the site isnt helping my cause.

So you think its common sense to buy a car thats over 10 years old, will break down a lot more and isn't as capable (in standard form)? Anyway I think we've ruined this thread enough tbh

what a load of utter shite you are spouting.
So Evo's and Impreza's have no motorsport pedigree now?!
I get the impression you are just bigging up old fords to be cool.
Impreza's and Evo are popular for a reason. They are affordable (to most) and very quick point to point out of the box. They are built well, and reliable when treated with respect. You are just blinkered and ignorant to the fact that they are good cars.
If i sat in an old ford i'd be taken a back by how dated it is etc. It doesnt make it better, or worse. I'm not narrowminded enough to think thay are shite for no other reason than to be cool.
Each car has its merits. It just so happens that modern impreza/evo's are better suited to 98% of the population.

Butler, when you can afford one and get rid of your french tin can shopping trolley then come back
As for talk of cosworths. You're gonna be in newish evo/scooby money for a "decent" one and if you can justify spending that kind of money on a decade+ old Ford then you need help
As for the original question. If you can afford it then STI8+ or Evo7+. If you're thinking of an older cheaper one then definately a scoob as old evo's just look a joke and everyone will know you're a poor cunt

I'd have an Evo 7/8 or a WR1 as an upgrade to my Evo 6. Wouldnt touch an old ford after my RS turdo days...

Im gonna be less biased now and agree that they may be good cars, they just dont appeal to me purely based on the fact they are so common. A car means more to me than just power and performance and for that reason I would chose something a bit rarer with more heritage and probably something less reliable like a Lancia Delta for example, but yes thats me? Theres a more mature answer if you cant agree with there then OK.

Pics of my Evos:-

If your going for a VIII get an MR - Much better package (Bilsteins, alu roof, better cams etc etc)
Also Evos not usable everyday? Both of these got/get used most days, sometimes on long journeys. They are shit on petrol and shit on servicing - if people can't afford to use them don't buy one? The standard clutches are a bit pants, I upgraded both to tripple plate - now no problems launcing at 6k rpm all day long at the pod Terms of Evos feeling like they will fall apart I haven't a clue where your coming from Vik
And Evos chav? I could buy a BMW if I liked but you don't get the option to tune as far as your wallet will strecth, neither the handling nor the thrill factor. IMO everytime I see a 106 I think student, chav, poverty, shopping cart etc
Lastly heritage - Tommi Makinen.

The tommi makinen edition is more respectable, as said with the rb5 and 22b

More respectable because it has different coloured wheels, a sticker, different seats, turbo even though it isn't as good as new age Evo's? Just because it's a ltd edition?

Following niks lead...here's my old scoobies...
Admittantly the classics are owned by chavs. So what? Doesn't make them any less of a car, plus old evo's in the same price bracket are just as popular with the scum. This ate many a cosworth by the way

Can't fault this one. Perfect

I could write in this thread all day, but i cant be arsed. My opinion, Evo. My bro has a 330 running about 390bhp, and its immense. His best mate has a Evo running around 350bhp, and although the sound of it makes me grin alot, i prefer the looks of the Evo, and the fact they are less common.
