my mate is getting one.

1.6 Supercharged coming out with 189bhp, thats absolutely insane. They say the latest clio struggles to keep up with it.

Is it really that good ojc, what other recent hot hatches have you driven recently for a comparison?

I expect the crap part ex price is because they know someone will roll up wanting one really badly and pay full asking price, probably on finance to and they will make a packet.

If you read the Total Vauxhall review its spot on about every aspect.

I haven't driven the Clio, but I might go and blag myself a test drive to compare.

I've driven a Mini Cooper S and it has a lot more urgency and the handling is better in the Corsa VXR, it handles the power better out of corners, also compared with a Clio 182 I drove recently as well the older Clio isn't a patch on the Corsa. It is superb.

It drives better than our Astra VXR, but doesn't look quite as good IMO.

hmm sounds good, like AK said 16k on a corsa though i dont think i could justify that much money on the basis off other marques/class of car you can get for 16k.

Wonder what the residuals will be in 3/4 years.

Thats what Rachel said and I totally agree, Astra looks much better, trouble is with the Corsa VXR the back looks radical and mean, but the front doesn't look quite as good and doesn't look that much different to a base model.

Its inside and on the road where it is better than the Astra.

I wouldn't spend 16k on one either, but lots of people will and they won't be disapointed.

Got a cpuple on Rachels phone.

Its better to drive, 0-80 about the same, handling is better but its a smaller, lighter car, doesn't have anywhere near the torque of the Astra.

i was extremely impressed with the test drive i had in a 197. From a lot of the reviews flying about they seem to prefer the 197 over the vxr, but i havent driven both so cant coment. Try and blag a spin in a 197 ojc @ rach, i think u'll be impressed. Handles like a dream.

I was going to go and drive the Clio today but had to spend the time down the river

I will do that next weekend or one day in the week if I'm off work.

A few choice quotes from the Motoring suplement from the daily telegraph.

The Title "Southend Special"

"It's not exactly Britain's alternative to the American Hot-Rod, found in Sainsbury's car parks rather than LA's Melrose Avenue, but at least its a bit of fun before you get moved on by the police"

"There is a VXR logo on the gearknob- very acceptable in the 80's"

"The Renault is a lot more Hardcore; its two-litre engine needs more winding up and it demands a great deal more respect and concentration to drive than both rivals" (mini and corsa)

"The Corsa's sense of direction goes a bit awry at different stages of acceleration"

"The ride is effervescent and busy from the work go."

I think they like it

How in the fcuk is this good?

"The Renault is a lot more Hardcore; its two-litre engine needs more winding up and it demands a great deal more respect and concentration to drive than both rivals" (mini and corsa)"

I think they were driving a Berlingo Van and not a Corsa VXR

I'm not buying it, its the wrong colour and 13.5k for my Astra is a joke

Dickhead added loads of stuff on top as well like GAP insurance and tyre protection which would mean me having to fork out an extra 4k for the car which is worth the same as our Astra the stupid idiot.

The astra seems to hold its value then
