The saxo will be going up the Pod in summer time, either at PVS or Trax, Hoping to do a Track Day sometime in summer as well,
The limiter is there for a reason, to stop the engine revving dangerously high, as long as its looked after it should be ok
My money is on the 1.2, Theres no replacement for displacement

Lol - muppet... there's nothing to worry about. There's no difference between pod and off a set of lights really!

my 1.2 16v ... I took it down pod quite a few times, was a good laugh. 19.2 seconds though looking back so shocking.
Providing you don't drive like a lemon or have 22 inch spinners you should win in a 1.2 16v, the top end will decide it. Both will be level at the 1/8th mile marker.
...
.... I've been down pod MANY MANY MANY times... and never had a single problem...
... Until...
... Last sept In my 106 Gti.
BANG! on the strip

Gear lever pointing to the left, no drive... Marshel truck came up and said 'YOUR DROPPING OIL ALL OVER THE TRACK' ... I limped off the end.
The sticky Surface and my group N mounts caused my NON group N (gearbox) mount to shear itself from the gearbox

WAS GUTTED...
But in theory it should be ok. After all your car is like 65-75 bhp and not french. And you didn't only upgrade half your engine mounts to group n

No betting Mine will loose, there is quite a big BHP difference and not a lot of weight.
It'd be more fair racing a 1.2 8v vs. 12v, as, on paper, the 12v is faster.
DJMartin - why would I race an SRi. The point of mine & Pow's race, is to see if there is much difference. Of course there is between an SRi and 12v.
Robin - thanks for the offer, I have AA Breakdown cover - hopefully it'll cover private land
Pow - I am quite worried, for the pure fact I can't afford to replace what ever goes wrong. That is why I wanted opinions and stories, to see if anything does go wrong.

Basicly everything Paul_J said, apart from calling me a muppet
Same as nailing it from a set of lights
Take your passenger side headlight out and get an induction kit

You'd be surprised
You'd have to push it to the end of Airfield Road, into Poddington and then convince them that you weren't at Santa Pod.
They won't even collect from Airfield Road now
But anyway, you won't break it, the amount of people who have been there and done run after run after run, then driven home, far outweighs the breakages

Yeh when I rang RAC they would not pick me up from pod... and kept asking if I had been racing / how did it happen.
I had to push it about 1/2 a mile back down the service road, then get towed out of pod by officials and then convince RAC I broke down outside
Just said I was watching and that I must've hit a bump
The bloke who picked me up was sound though. He had seen it all before, picks up all the santa pod runners
Mattk I wasn't calling you a muppet.

Paul your running standard mounts yes? I would have thought the group ns would have been better suited. Ive just bought myself a set of new standard mounts after what you said to me I gave pugsport ones a miss this time round lol.
