Supercar features are good, need more average joe cars. James May's older car features are usually pretty good too.

Top Gear is fine as it is, would be shit if they went back to reviewing a 1.8 Vectra LS.
top gear would never review a vectra 1.8 ls they always review the top spec model, so the v6 gsi, would be for example

I seem to recall on the old style Top Gear they reviewed the Vectra when it first came out in about 97 when JC slated it. Don't think that was a fancy one.

Everything is getting more and more daft every episode. I personally would like to see it regain direction as a motoring programme. Tractor feature was interesting and some of the limo stuff was funny, but its far too transparent. They are not actors and can't pull off that degree of stupidity.

Because it's a car show? and the Vectra is a car?
I have no pics, I CBA to go through old magazines and work out when it was, and there are no vids on Youtube these days.

On another note, I saw a programme with Lemar on it this morning and they asked him if he was really mad about the Limo thing. He said I was a bit miffed as I was late, but they scripted it and told him to play it up a bit more.
Just wonder how much is set up, most of it seems a bit too good to be true but i'd like to be a bit more believable.

I haven't had time to read all of this, but I have seen people say that it wasn't full of car reviews.
I think this is because of Hammond's crash - when the crash happened, the show was due to start again, within the next month I think. So all the car reviews would have been pre-recorded (hence different colours cars on studio days etc.)
Anyway, with Top Gear coming back just before or after Xmas (can't remember which) all these car reviews would be out of date (all cars would have been reviewed in other press) - this means that have to fill it up with 'bollox'.
If you notice, there was a 'challenge' every episode - I think these were to span nearly 2 series.
I can't see how they will axe Top Gear. The BBC is getting enough stick about the licence fee not being value for money, yet this is one programme that a lot of people watch, so must be good and worth the money etc.
I do hope it doesn't get axed - they need to run 1 more 'up to date series' before deciding imo.

That is quite good, explaining how/why they record in the way they do.

at folk saying a television station doesn't care how many viewers it gets!
Also the fact they are getting more viewers is the base argument for its format not to change a bit, it works, it's not broken so don't fix it.
Oh and it will start back in the summer according to the bbc.

Its obvious most is set up, which does annoy me because if it really happened it would be much funnier.
Still love the program though.

Clarkson admitted in the InGear supplement of the Guardian when discussing the Hammond comeback that ALL of the studio stuff he scripts.
You can tell some stuff on the 'challenges' is a set up, and some isn't. A good way of telling this is the camera work - if it all of a sudden pulls up because something unexpected happened, then, it is more than likely it wasn't a set-up. IMO the whole petrol station thing in America wasn't a set-up, you can tell by how scared the looked and rubbing the paint off with Coco-Cola etc.
When you study media at Uni and the reality of documentaries, you can spot things on TV that are planned or not.
Some is planned, undoubtedly but some is also spontaneous.
