I agree but I would need a new job to go to first though!
I resigned without having another job to go to. Like Nike says, JUST DO IT!
Me too, told him to shove it up his fat arse then if he would give me a reference

just come out directly and ask why they wont consider you.
If they dont have a good answer then tell them your not happy with current roll/wage and either give you a raise or you'll quit. Give them a deadline and if they dont take your written notice in and throw it in his face.
I totally agree with you cosmopolitan I would definitely ask them why they haven't considered you for the position- you may be able to get some good feedback from them as well ie: lacks motivation (not saying you do), you're good in this area but we really need someone with strengths in this area, etc etc. I *personally* would not give them an ultimatum unless I was 100% prepared to follow through with it- else if you don't that may be used against you at a later date.
I can understand its difficult- you don't want to leave until you've got another job- cos obviously you've probably got your mortgage, rent, bills etc to pay for and don't need to take that sort of risk financially. But staying there in a place that clearly doesn't appreciate everything you do will just keep getting you down. And at the end of the day even if you speak to your manager and they do end up offering you a better position/more pay etc is this what you really want- would anything have really changed and would you want to work for people that originally rather employ temps over decent staff they already have? Just my take on things but something worth thinking about...

Its basically because they've got me typing enquiries for Estimating - Tenders for proposed work that I can't do anythign else as they now have a smooth system of everything going out so they're happy. Me doing Drawing Control would mess this up. The secretaries did it for a while but refused.
The funny thing is, if I left it would totally fuck them up and also leave Drawing Control understaffed.

tbh he's right, if their taking a stance & taking the micheal out of you now do you think that will change??
£12k souldnt be difficult to match to get an inbetween job while you hunt around + its not like you have any major commitments, house, wife, kids etc!
Do it!!

Obviously don't forget to put your boss's name and company address on the top left of the letter, your name and address underneath it but on the right hand side, and today's date underneath that...
