Breakfast - Lunch - Dinner
It sounds a bit fucking stupid if say you wanna take a slut out one evening and instead of saying "I'd like to take you out for dinner tonight" you say "I'd like to take you out for tea tonight"...

Tea is more homely
Eg
You go out for dinner when you don't really know them, but when they come to your house to meet your parents they come over for tea.
Its an exact science

Dinner is a more formal tea.
Dinner is not lunch.
