It happens alot in liverpool as you'd expect not so much with asians though.
Some lad I know who works the door in southport, one of his colleagues got shot with a full length shot gun by a 19 yr old kid who'd been ordered to do it but he hit the wrong fella.
Watch yourself though craig some people aren't clever enough to realise the consequences of their actions.
It's a lovely world we live in

So potentially someone or a gang is going to do 5k's worth of damage to you, and you are not arsed.
Either you are a fooking hard bastard or just stupid.
Do you have "Wings like a shield of steel" like Batfink?

I wouldnt be suprised if they get some little bastard that wants respect to open fire on your door one night. I cant imagine him being a hollywood style hitman But theres always the chance that he actually hits one of your crew
Unless its a shotgun then it can be concealed easily, unlike basebal bats etc

Not saying you're a twat, Craig, but the bouncers round my way are.
Just general wankers who think they're it because they have a little power to put people outside the front door. Most round this way need to be "taught a lesson" imo.
I know what you've said before. They have to deal with drunk wankers all the time so they're bound to be twats. But still....

Definately, the ones at Riffifi are the worst.
Not to mention, bouncers are supposedly meant to stop contraband entering the club i.e. drugs, yet the bouncers on the doors sell cocain Work that one out.

Yea, A certain Dealer from our area (who was recently in the papers after being kidnapped and shot in his own range rover, yet survived) Runs all the Clubs in ashton/Vegas Regardless of which firm runs the doors.
I Haven't bothered with Ashton in over a year as once 2am comes its just one big fight on the circuit usually, my mum ran a pub on the circuit for a short while and was amazing the fights i used to see form the upstairs windows at kicking out times and the Bouncers at 'the loft' were just pure Evil, would regularly see them giving kids 18/19/20 a kicking even seen them punch women before but the police were just as useless,
Hence why i like Stalybridge much less chilled and the majority of people are older than myself so less fights ect

As i always say, you get bad apples in every bunch. I know plenty of arsehole doormen too.
I generally find doormen do the job for one of four things... money, the power trip, violence or women. I just see it as a wage for me and i do enjoy it.
It's terrible since the SIA have taken over the licensing, we now have far too many 18 year old 'doormen' who would be better suited on the front door of Mothercare. I generally find it's these lads that give us a bad name. They think they have something to prove. We call them jacket fillers because thats all they do TBH. You might aswell have a plant pot working with you.

With regards to drugs, yeah it happens. Ive never experienced it myself where the team or an individual i work with sell drugs but i know in the bigger cities alot of the door firms control the drug scence and stipulate who deals and who doesn't etc. They let certain dealers in, keep certain dealers out, and then take a % of what what made.

If i stopped working everytime i was threatened i'd never be on the doors. I don't think im 'hard' and i wouldn't class myself as 'stupid' - these things happen. I'll still be on the door at the weekend... i'll just have to start wearing my bullet proof vest again (hate that thing)
I get grief with all 3 of my jobs so i guess my attitude to this kind of thing is a little different to the average joe public.

Being big and having a presence does help, as does years of experience, but long gone are the days where you could open the fire exit door with someones head
We really cant do anything, it's all about communcation skills these days. A doormen i worked with lost his license just for grabbing hold of someones shoulder. Customers abuse us, kick, punch, spit, bottle, rant and rave and the minute you even give them a dirty look they're on their toes to the police and we're the ones who get arrested.
I remember once, i worked in a right dive, i was in the middle of a fight trying to split it up when some little runt who wasn't even involved started punching me in the back of the head from behind. I didn't hit him back, i just locked him up and dragged him out and as i was taking him down the stairs his girlfriend was screaming blue murder at me whilst whacking me over the head with her shoe. They then went to the police and wanted to get me arrested for assault It's how it is these days.

Craig, what's the name of the board that should be complained to about bouncers? I take it there's an overall governing authority?
