try to go tothe gym 3-4 times a week, only doing an hour session. Typically just do loads on the crosstrainer and a few sets of weights then I've had enough

Yeh freeweight stimulate loads more muscle fibre. Machines are absolutely cack. Stick to as many compound exercises(ones that use more than one muscle group) as possible.

you have got to eat ALOT of carbs (complex carbs) stuff like brown rice for example, and also like someone said 1.5grams of protien to every lb of your body weight!!

theres loads of factors to take into account when training (belive it or not, its fcuking hard to get everything correct)

like your eating, correct form, SLEEP (thats a big factor aswel), the best bit of advice id give is, get on ebay and buy "an underground written book to training" basically its got everything in it and its easy to follow as its in lame mans terms.

also before you go to the gym, have a good intake of carbs with a limited amount of protien (say 20g) i normally have something like a jacket potato, or a big bowl of oats etc, gives you the energy to train!!

i go every mon, weds and friday, and train a major muscle with a smaller muscle, and it works very well for me!

I go to the gym a strict 4 times a week, mon- chest/Abs, tue- shoulders, inc traps wed- off thurs-triceps( alone as they make up two thirds of the upper arm) fri- back/biceps.

If your building defo stick to free weights, even if its jus for your 1st sets when u arrive, i.e. bench press 1st when doin chest, this is also a good way of seeing if your getting stronger.

Ive been goin for 12 months, i dont train legs even though you should as there good for promoting the rest of your body to grow, however im getting good gains without training them and never want to be of a size that they look silly.

Abs are important as they increase core strength.

I stick to creatine although it does give some people muscle cramps and is not essential but helps build strength. Also take 'super pump 250' before workouts as i tend to get tired n loose alot of drive half way through and has the same effect of like 10 red bulls

As for protien, its better to stic to chicken and tuna, especially immediately after training, i try and have a tin of tuna after every work out and a shake.

p.s the info im giving is by no means correct and i am not at all qualified in this area and anybody can feel free to corect me however it does work for me

the MAIN thing you need to have after training (and basically all through the day) is carbs, you will not grow without them, FACT. if you want to be bigger then you gotta eat big!!!
as for protien, tuna is an alright source of protien, but your body doen not absorb as much of the protien in it as the same grams of say, chicken! basically theres quite a bit of protien in tuna but your body does not use alot of it, so if this is your main choice of protien, then id try to get a bhit more of a boost from somewhere else! white mean is the way to go!!!!!

any advice for someone a bit more cardio-vascular orientated? at the moment im probably not eating right for what i do. i do quite a lot of free weights, trying to build up muscular endurance rather than bulking up.

if your more looking for cardio/toning then lighter weights but more reps (3 sets of 10, with 30sec gap between them). Food wise you wont need as much protein as your not building muscle, but you'll still need a decent amount to aid toning and repairs.

"All your mates are big and he reminds me of the skinny guy from Road Trip" <---- Thats me!!!! 6ft, 9 stone wet through!!!!

I went to the gym for 4 years. I just got stronger. Lifted more weights. Thats it.

Long story short, mum and dad are slim. So i'm fooked! Thats what the docs and the guys at the gym said. So i eat crap and never put anything on.

Oh and McD's supersize me..... Doesn't work on me!!!! Worked next to a McD's for 11 months.
