Yes, so they can arrest you for other crimes when doing a roadside check from what I heard.

Oh, but the law needs to be changed before any of this can even be used.

You want to go to Pakistan?

No I want to find an oil rig and turn it into my own country and see how long it takes until I am branded a terrorist.

There has been cases IIRC someone being jailed due to a mix up with fingerprints....Don't ask me details but sure there has..
I don't agree with the fact you get stopped and finger printed for minor road offence...
There will be mistakes made, I can guarantee that...

Exactly, but that is a lazy person's view according to King Paranoia Ojc.

My view on the matter as well.
On the one hand you have idiots saying this country is a dump, criminals run wild and free and on the other they start shooting down new innovative ways in which to rid the country of the pollutant sector of society because it encroaches their civil liberties
It's the lack of education in this country that has it on it's knees.

BUT TBH where does it stop, if we allow them to start finger printing us for no reason then its just one more of many ideas they'll start bringing to to watch us more.
There are other ways to get rid of crime in the country before making law obidding citizens give up more information on themselves...such as actually make punishments a deterrant instead of going easy on people and giving them so much of a nice time in prison.
Id rather see my tax money spent on more 6x6' boxes for criminals to be stuffed into than machines to finger print anyone and everyone!

Its not for no reason though, its because they suspect something isn't right.

But do you really think they will stick to this or just gradually start finger printing everyone, as I know which I think it'll be!

aye, have only ever been stopped once aswell when I got done for speeding by a copper with a hand held
TBH though its just an easy way for them to introduce us to the system and then eventually roll it out on a larger scale...when you crash, get done for speeding, everyone who gets pulled over even if not dodgey...and just use it as an excuse to 'check for bad people with outstanding warrants on them'.
If they wanted to deal with the problems then start at the root and stop it there, rather than once people have already become criminals.

yeah, no doubt it will catch some and I am all for that side of it, but it is just an easy way to introduce us to it under a banner of it doing some good....but then again so were speed cameras and look at those now!

Is it not a breach of human rights being interigated (request for fingerprints) at random without any spacific crime being investigated
Also where does this end....if successful whats next on the agenda - random colon searches (rubber glove up the keechter) to see if your couriering drugs in your ass
If its optional (roadside fingerprints) thats ok but id rather stay anonymous!!

you can refuse to give them at the moment (they will use the few random successes to make it law no doubt) and if they are really unsure then they have to arrest you and take you down that station...but they wont do that unless there is some sort of reason for doing so.

Don't forget to leave some money aside to pay them when they sue you for not providing them with drugs.
I'm not particularly fussed about the fingerprinting tbh. I've been stopped by Merseyside Police enough times driving a good car with no hair to be assumed to be a criminal anyway, I may as well prove I'm not in 4 minutes rather than half an hour.
Look on the bright side, no one on the sex offenders register will EVER get away with minor motoring offenses again.
"We'll let you off with a warning today regarding your 34 in a 30 don't do it aga... *BEEP* *BEEP* no... wait.... that'll be £60 please you sex pest"
