not IMO no.

He is a good crosser and passer, but thats about it. He hasnt got enough to him to be called a legend, and IMO that term is branded about well too often to describe someone who was a good player but not great.

He is a good guy aswell form what I can tell, setting up soccer schools around the world, etc. but once again it still doesnt make him a footballing legend.

Over the last decade as you mentioned these are some legends I can think of...Zidane, Figo, Henry (still going too), Bergkamp, Shearer, Cantona.

Zidane should be a disgrace not a legend,
figo is no better than beckham imo, henry will be one but i dont think so at the mo.
bergkamp yes, shearer no.
i think there needs to be a collective of things that makes a footballer a legend and what beckham has done for football sport and aswell as playing it, he deserves to be a legend!!!

But some wouldnt class what Beckham has done as a good thing, commercialising the sport more, making footballers into celebrities rather than just sportsmen, concentrating on different advertising promotions, made footballers more greedy, etc. etc.

The days of the real legends of the past who just played football have long gone and Beckham was one of the pioneers of this...not all good IMO.

thats America though

I just dont think most of what he has done is a good thing for football (some is good though!), and I know if he didnt then someone else would of, but still it doesnt make him a legend.

I do think he is a good player, and guy from what I can tell. But just think the status of Legend is given out too easy these days and dont think he is just there (yet...he might get there!)

he put himself in the media...live by the media die by the media

Also, if he hadnt become this big brand that he has made himself into would he of been England captain..no. Would he have moved to Madrid...no. Would we even be considering him being a legend...no!

he wouldnt of as they only bought him for his popularity. The day they signed him for £25m or whatever it was they had made it all back within the year due to his marketing power.

Zinedine Zidane, his relaxed moves and skills on the ball have converted many anti-French people into idolising Zidane.

Ronaldinho Gaucho, What this guy can do with a ball in a competitive match is amazing, his fluent skills and love of the game makes everyone watch, he also is a very fair player, you'll never see him kick out and wreck a World Cup for his country.

Eric Cantona, I don't need to say anything, he had it all bar the international glory, which Beckham still hasn't had.

Raul Gonzalez, Spains most prolific goal getter, Real Madrid fans vowed to end their own lives in 2001 due to rumours he was being sold to Bayern, thats an impact on itself, the golden boy of Spanish football, holds many records.

Ruud V Nistelrooy, has the best strike rate on the planet to date.

Ronaldo Nazario de Lima, Brazil's best striker since Pele, holds the world record for world cup goals and since 1993 kids and men admire him to this day even though he's not the man he used to be.

I would say there is more but can't be arsed to write anything yet, bit tired.

Ask yourself this, what will David Beckham be remember for? and answer it honestly, because all I think he will be remembered for is a good free kick, and that doesn't even work anymore.

The ask yourself this..... what will Bobby Moore and Geoff Hurst be remembered for?
Same with Lineker, Robson, Keegan etc...

Doesn't matter whether he's lazy or not, it matters what impact he makes, he does what he's employed to do which is score, and he does exactly that, played 3 games for Real Madrid and scored 3.
