yeah, I put the prawns in an old of tights or net bag, leave them in for about 2 or 3 days (depends on the size of the tank) until the ammonia gets high (tank will go cloudy) and then take them out.
Once the ammonia goes to zero, and nitrates and nitrites change (one will go high after the ammonia, then the next...cant remember which!) and after that do a water change then introduce a few fish at a time so not to overload the filters.

I jut put in about half a frozen bag full as it was a big tank. But the more you put in the more ammonia and the fast it'll begin to cycle.
