I'm with SetH throughout this thread. There is pressure to do the whole 'young experience' which normally includes pointless, poor quality sex.
One of my early girlfriends who was a virgin before she met me liked the idea of settling down, and it could have gone quite far, except for the fact that she had only ever experienced one person, which flawed the arrangement somewhat.
I think its entirely possible to do what most peoples parents probably did, ie. meet early and stay together, but its clearly a dying art, down to greed and misguided curiosity, mostly.
