You can't beat a scooby for the price. I'd like someone to show me a better standard car for £4k. There isn't one.

your comment is a bit stupid TBH, a better car? a better car for what? if i wanted sumthing economical and cheap thats probably the worst car there is for 4k

if i wanted something quite fast but still reasonably easy/cheap to maintain its still not the best choice there is.

you have to budget for a car like that though

Impreza/skyline/200sx etc...

Not cheap to insure or run... so if your total budget is 5k.... dont get one

For instance - I've spent over 2k on the impreza this year.... and thats just wear and tear itmes... clutch, flywheel, suspension, bushes etc

Considering Adams thread is about a "fast car" that'll also be used on the "track" I doubt he's worried about fuel consumption, you twat.

What's better handling? What is faster? You're maintenance point is bollocks too, what "extra" maintenance does it require over any other performance car? errr none

ST205 Celica GT4 can be had for 4k

with simple boost mods I can out pace my mates 1996 Import WRX... and it certainly handles no better

i seriously doubt a jap turbo with air con and track car potential is a good idea ona budget

IF you want a cheap track car - plan and think for that...
If you want a comft cruiser with toys (airCon) etc.... plan for that..

Why the hell do you want AirCon on a potential track day toy.... even on a road car.... I have aircon on two cars at the moment... and only use them to make sure they still work. Windows, and moving is a better option... AirCon is pretty pointless in my opinion

Ditch - that has a flip side..... WRX has a turbo too, and will react likewise to boost mods

no no no... the WRX would get heat stroke from its top mounted IC and go on a meltdown

joking aside though... they are very very evenly matched as standard... 255bhp vs 260bhp... both heavy cars with 4WD

I think the MR2 is a good idea, but another option no one has mentioned is a clio 172, at the french car show they were constatley making sub 7 seconds to 60 (standard) and out handle and other hot hatch. If your using it on a track its worth rembering that when autocar test'd one it out broke a porsche 911 from 100-0 which is really gonna get you round the track quicker.

Mine has air con, xons etc and reguly does 38 mpg even giving it some stick. The only problems being they eat front tyres and although i think bukld quyality is good its a french car at the end of the day.
