Perhaps,

But i think there is sufficient evidence that breathing pure oxygen combined with oxygen enhanced water would somewhat 'help' him in his failed attempt

After all, if he had succeeded, it would have be proved to be a sham would it not?

surely water can only suspend a certain amount of oxygen? and that amount would not be enough to allow a human to breath?

true.

Im sure it will enhance the bodys functions though, not enough to breathe. but enough to prolong underwater heroics

Getting confused now.

Water cannot be breathed and skin is impermiable so oxygen in the water cannot enter the human body.

Short term it benefits, endurance is enhanced and energy levels lift, long term it can have serious neuroligical affects and human body tissue can be damaged with oxidation.
