Funny thing is these uni people go to get a job and they have had all that education but dont have any experience to be able to do the job. Experience in doing the job is more important than having letters after your name
couldn't agree more Matty

So the placement year most people do is not counted as work experience these days? Oh and what about the part time jobs most students have?
i'm starting my placement next year, i think the salary is £10400 ish, with the possibility of sponsorship through my final uni year.

I feel people have a gross mis-understanding about what a degree course involves now. The comments made may have been true about 10 years ago, but since then a lot of modernisation has happened. Yet still people still like to tell me I am wasting my time. Oh well, in 4 or 5 years time, they can come and make tea and coffee for me.

true and it makes me laugh when my mate tells me not to bother going to uni because "i'll get myself into too much debt".....this is the same mate who declared himself bankrupt earlier this year.....ohhh he irony...

£25k, no bonuses/awards that I know of....but the partners seem to love me
Study as robbo already put....
Accountant (not Uni qualified)
Simlar to Robbo and Natalie...........
left school and couldn't be arsed carrying on with full-time education so did an apprenticeship doing accountancy......
Currently on 22k, which is a decent wage for Accountants in Sheffield, plus they pay for study.
I agree that uni/degrees are in a lot of cases pointless.
Thats a very good package for oop north lad

Sometimes they bare irrelevant, but as Ian says, sometimes you need them... Accountancy is an interesting industry fre. degrees... they mean fk all unless u want to become a partner in a top 4 firm (which do not go to those deservinfg it necy, its a class thing)... accountants who have been to uni do not generally have better career prsospects or knowledge than those who worked whilst studying (as BigSte, Natalie, Marcus Foster, myself et al have done!)
