While this maybe true, it still pi55es you off when English fans are targetted because of a past reputation, and other countries can go round doing whatever they want and not a word is said

English people were given the reputation they have due to some of the fans being complete idiots and fighting with other countries to the extent of fans being banned.
In a way they carved a path for other countries to follow their lead

Doesn't matter, Roma will get a slap on the wrist, a £5000 fine or something, and that'll be that.

well we've wiped it out ALOT form what it used to be like in the 80's and 90's in the UK, so I dont see why it cant be done in other European countries.

you have to keep in mind that italy is a very corrupt country, so enforcing rules on these people is difficult.
also, since the 80s and 90s we remember Euro2000, there were many riots and from what it appeared to be, English fans causing the bulk of this (although talk of them getting kicked out never happend, and a good choice imo) also the incident with the leeds fans in turkey.
Italians (from what i remember) haven't caused trouble outside of their own country. the trouble just seems to follow the english, and i feel quite sad that this is that case because be it their fault or not, it diverts attentinon away from what matters - football.
but yes, something must be done to calm these people down, IMO kicking teams out of tournaments isnt going to solve issues, might cause more problems if anything.

Kick them out the competitions and then they cant be there to cause trouble, simple. They did it to english teams for 5 years (10 for Liverpool) and we dont see anything like the sort of trouble there used to be. Im not saying it has totally gone from England as it hasnt, but it has gone along way to stop it.
If you say they are a corrupt country and rules + laws dont bother them then what do you do to stop it other than not letting them take part? I cant think of anything else TBH.
BTW- Leeds in turkey was similar to this in Rome. English FAMILIES at a bar and then getting jumped by organised gangs. This time we were lucky no one died, we werent so lucky in turkey.

i feel that its harsh to kick all italian teams out - however i do believe something must be done against roma - they had to play matches behind closed doors for a while - this hasnt worked - the next step must be to stop there entry to euro cup matches- its time some strong action was taken
english teams have done alot to clear the game of its ugly side - yet it seems to have got worse elsewhere
and it aint just roma - the recent events in spain with players facing racial abuse is also getting outer order.

It's funny really because if it was the english to blame as Gianluigi seems to believe why did the people who got stabbed had kids or there parents with them?
One man was stabbed protecting his 11 year old son for Fecks sake. The roma fans had axes and knives, Boro fans had what??

Because i support Boro means i have a biased view? I mean a group of 60-70 ROMA fans planned on attacking innocent people.
CCA - yes they fought back but i think any normal person would if some idiot ran at them with a knife etc...

Kiestakidda remember that there was a time when english fans caused alot of fights and riots and attacked other countries supporters when they were unable to defend themselves.
Im not saying this makes it ok but alot of people commenting seem to be forgetting about those times

It's funny because i have close friends out there and were caught up in it. This happened because some Italian (not all) are pure thugs. Liverpool showed respect to the people of the Heysel Disaster last year with Juve, but did the Juve fans. Think you will find the answer to be no!!! They threw it back in there faces instead balmed them and wanted to fight.
Leeds fan killed in Galatasary a few years ago, was his own fault his family were told. It's funny that the Turkish fans started the fight and he got caught up in it.
Your trying to tell me a Man with his 11 year old man stood and fought these people? No he was trying to get away shame he was having an operation last night for stab wounds and his son was on his own in a Foreign country

you're right. some italians are thugs. as schoey put it earlier, its only a minority, but that minority happen to be hardcore. this indeed disturbs me as much as anyone else. anyway, thugs exist everywhere, i know this because i went to norwich and was hit in the back of the head and called scum because i was wearing an ipswich scarf. there are no angels.
but you cant just sit back and believe that these people planned this before hand, and intentailly wanted to kill innicent men women and children.
I can just imagine, a pub in italy, a bunch of rowdy boro fans, being loud and disrespectful, and just pissed off the wrong people.
i think this because ive witnessed these english fans in action. where ever they are, they find a pub and treat it like thier own.
i think any further comments would get us nowhere in this. and i'd appreciate mav/ian/tim/stoney to close the thread.
