I've got a GTi-6 and think its a good car.

Build quality isnt as good as vauxhall I don't think but handling makes up for it.

Engine is quick. 0 - 60 is likely 7.5, maybe slightly quicker. But no way is it past 8.

Will do 140 easy, will get to 120 very quick.

I've had my car 3 years and no plans to change it.

You want any info, check out www.306gti6.com its a great club, very friendly with loads of owners.

I've never found any issues with the build quality of my 306. I especially like the fact that the dashboard isn't just made out of crappy plastic like a lot of cars.

Bugs me when I polish the roof and I can feel its weak. Even when you spray a hose on it, the noise given off indicates that its quite thin metal.

The Electrics could be better. And working on the GTI-6 engine is a nightmare. No room.

If your mate does get one, make sure the cambelt, idle tensioner and water pump have been changed within the last 30K miles. Thye seem to fail about 30K and its not a cheap repair.

One thing I really noticed when I changed from a corsa to the GTi-6 was the brakes, the discs all round are great.

I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this but it does increase the power of a 106 Gti to around 140bhp.

I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this but fitting a decent manifold/exaust & filter does increase the power of a 106 Gti to around 140bhp.

To be honest i think it's a myth.... in saying that a local car did make 135bhp when totally std and that was on a local Dastek RR... but i think thats a bit of a one off...

Impressive all the same.
