I couldn't care how funny you think it is, I find it annoying, same as scrolling past the same pictures 5 times, the only difference is I suggested we do something.
Clearly a vehicle for humour.

I'm sorry Ian but IMHO life is too short to look at everything seriously all the time.
But with regards to the quotes issue, can a system not be put in place where only one post is quoted, like you see on vBulletin (i.e. MIGWeb) forums?

I think if you want to define it in one line you really do misunderstand the complexity of moderating a few thousand people talking about a few thousand things.
If I could make a list of all that is acceptable and all that is not, and make it easy to recognise it, there would be a bit of software somewhere doing it all. While its humans talking, and it must be read and interpretted and decisions made, some poor bastards get the job of trawling through it.
I've never been heavy-handed, ever, first approach is always to talk to people, post what I want doing, post what I think is a good idea. Then Sam decides thats an opportunity for a joke. Really.

As someone who runs a forum, you should possibly appreciate that if people came on and talked crap, you would be fairly serious.

perhaps a rename of the forums to general car chat and non car related chat?
"When it doesnt go a seriously as you like" kind of gives people the idea they can talk non seriously in there IMO

I do - I replied to a thread of his yesterday about Network Q warrenty which he now won't be able to reply to himself. I also deleted a thread by him as it wasn't necessary any more due to him not being here. I think its a shame, as he does have a lot of useful things to say, he's just bloody weird with it.

If you think you can be clear in one line keep trying, I don't.

My quote wasnt that long
Sometimes you need to quote though if you are replying to that one person and not the whole thread

At the moment my forum is fairly new (and quiet) so I don't really have any issues on there to speak of presently, and I only have one moderator to look after things for me when I'm not online.
Generally speaking, I don't mind banter on my forum, and as long as people post things in the correct forums, and don't post anything dodgy on there, then I am happy.
At the end of the day Ian, you need to appreciate this is a site to do with Corsas. You will always get people talking crap (like myself for example) and taking the piss out of each other or other things. Surely you are not expecting a site where ONLY serious Corsa discussion occurs?

Doesn't mean I can't object to it. I don't see the point of even turning a computer on if its to talk crap. Total waste of electricity, time and your life. I'm not really with that.

Ian - I know I post crap sometimes but I do post up about serious things too. Haven't quite got to the stage of posting in every thread about bad breath or whatever though!
Steve - I suggest you both STFU and GTF unless you have some valid input on this topic. Oh and

i know people say that this is
"jsut an internet forum" but for me like many others, its more of my every day life now. i check it every day, check all the forums, and contriute to GC or HZ if i can.
people come on here for many reasons, mainly being Help, which the site is about. but i as well as that people come on here to see how other people are, some people are quite friendly with one another, which i dont think is a bad thing.
for the crap or banter or whatever you want to call it, i think that this is largley outweighed by the contributions of corsa/car talk and help.
i think as for people like Ojc who Ian says,. does have useful things to say but wierd about it. i think for people like him who have been here a ling time, there's only so many times that they can tell someone that smoked headlights are better than angel eyes, or something like that.
Just my view. No apologies for the essay.

i have to agree with Ian here, if it was a newbie posting the same stuff as some people do on here, would it get a laugh? or would it just be plain annoying? For example, when Valvedup started talking shit and slagging people off, everyone was really fucked off with it, and some people on here, who have been here for a while, do the same thing
Even if they do post useful stuff sometimes, the crap posted by them outweighs the good IMO
Also, do we really need 17 posts about the same thing in OD, like Sol Campbell, or "THAT muslim cartoon"?
I get frustrated scrolling through pages of stuff to find anything interesting, and i'm sure other prople agree with me

yeah i'm with ian and rob on this one. Off Day is here to talk about other topics apart from cars, but its just being filled with utter crap about people breath smelling etc. which is funny maybe once or twice, but not everyday.
I reckon there should be more mods in each section to assign topics to the correct areas etc. aswell as helping to delete crap out of the forums. But i think if more mods are used, they should all have set guidelines, so that the situation of threads being deleted unnessercerely (sp) doesn't happen, which can cause more trouble than just leaving the thread be...... just my 2p's worth !!

I would prefer better threads in the first place to stricter moderation and more battles. Talking sense in the first place would remove the need to mod.
