Cant believe people are saying Stuart P, the blokes only been in management for 2 minutes, no way is he good enough/experienced enough to lead the national team. Yes he would show passion, but im sorry, you can have all the passion in the world but it wont make you a good manager.
As for Big Sam, been in the game for a long time, proved he can work with mediocer (sp) players, and get the best from them, would be intersting to see what he could with better palyers, although in all honesty i'd prefer to see him prove himself a bit more at club level before i saw him charge of England
Curbishley - Same as above really, only really proved himself at Charton, has taken them as far as possible, with a limited budget and limited players, again would like to see how he coped at a bigger club before he got the nod to take over the national team.
Sir Bobby - too old now, sorry but hes past, would probs make a good number 2 though.
Steve McClaren - Been number 2 to Sven for a while, get rid of him and start afresh, wouldnt bring anythig new to the team. Record at Middlesbourgh aint exactly cracking, and most of their fans reckon its time he move on his from there, if you cant manage Middlesbourgh, then no way you can manage England.
Cant think of any other English managers that would be worthy to take over at present, only option would be go foriegn again

Wonder when they'll start interviewing. The Euro 2008 qualifiers start shortly after the WC so an appointment will have to be made during Summer surely?
Watch the dog shit managers start putting their names in the hat.
I hear Leroy Rosenoir of Torquay wants to become Englands first black manager.............

Not forgetting what the Germans have recently done in appointing Jurgen Klinnsman, a man with no managerial history yet is adored by the countries people. They are on a good run of results. So maybe Stuart Pearce isn't that crazy. Although tbh i'd prefer someone with more credentials.

I think the choice is either going to be a foreign coach again, or an english one with a director of football or similar with him. As all the English coaches are still young and learning the trade so to speak. Saying that we will have another 2 yrs until the Euro Championships and 4 until the World cup so is plenty of time to learn!

Not even read most of the replies but sam is the man for the job in view of what he's done at bolton especially with the players he's had to work with. Is gonna be his biggest league finish ever with bolton this year imo (and the highest they will ever finish) so it's a good time to go. I wouldn't mind curbishly or mclaren but I think sam would motivate the team and give them the confidence that a seude can't.

I'd say McClaren, he's got the respect of the Players, been in the English game all of his life and seems to have his head screwed on!

He is turd, what exactly has he achieved? He has had millions to spend on players and bought absolute toilet, his team are mediocre and he has won nothing.
Great CV.
