Ebay have already sent me an e-mail stating they are watching my site etc.

Will never be as big as Ebay, obviously we know that but you never know, never say never !

If my site got 1/3 of the size of Ebay i would still be laughing.

I do it for fun as i enjoy it, when i make money (which i do) it makes it even better.

Greg: keep up the good work on ukflava, what did ebay say in particular why they were watching your site?

cosmo: have you done A-level, business or a degree in business? i done AVCE Business, did quite well, other than setting up my own business, i'm not sure the most effective way of applying it career wise would be for me ideas?

Plz tell me your secret powerful features you have over ebay, I'm extremely interested.

Personally I think if you was going to make it big with an auction site you would have done already, this site has been knocking around ofr awhile IMHO.

I dont like the name either, dont think it fits into the sites purpose.

This is nothing personal, I say all of this because I'm realistic, you have obviously stuck it out with this website and wont let it die. I do hope something comes your way.

I'm not having a go at greg or cosmo as people or any shite like that.

I just think that ripping off successful ideas that have and are currently making millions is not the way forward. If it was everyone would do it.

If the million pixel shite was such a money spinner why hasn't everyone done it? There's little if no costs involved, so why hasn't everyone, eh? Because most people know there's no way it will ever achieve the same level of success!

GCSE Business Studies and Economincs. Alevel Business Studies and Economics. And now completing my Business Management degree at Manchester Uni (formerly UMIST when I joined!).

A business degree (or AVCE) will just be a good footing to getting any business related job really as they are fairly general. Personally I intend on using mine to set up my own company, but that is only 'cos I hate working for people!

Thats fine mate, I don't mind people saying "you will never get big" or "you will never beat ebay"thats fine and i don't expect to be big.

I do it for fun and if it gets bigger then great.

All my items are feed x4 times a day on a cron to Bidhopper and x1 times a day to froogle.

It is a pretty clever site, i enjoy it

loads of people are doing it. Infact their is one called million somethig that has sold more than him and made about $250k I think.

Not everyone does it becuase they dont have the knowledge, money, time, motivation, etc. etc. or just dont realise.

Yep agreed, internet is a big world but when you get your sites optimised, site maps working, balancing, crons running to various sites feeding your auctions / RSS/XML feeds it helps boost site alot.

Willay you should know this ?

Boost your site alot?

you mean in performance? Spread? how many people know it?

dont talk bullshit to me.

I'm not talking about you load balancing your website over serveral dedicated webservers making sure they have various links to big name carriers so you get decent round trips to all of your users (having connectivity to a tier-1 provider such as L3 for example).

I'm not talking about using crontabs to automate tasks either, I'm talking about just having an idea that works and does the trick.

How much of the technical stuff do you actually do on ukflava?

Also seeing as you are UKflava, why dont you host it over in the UK instead of...Dallas TX, USA??

Surely your uk base will benefit from this, could get that round trip time under 100ms.
