The guy was ADICTED to drinking, its a disease FFS, its not just like you and me, who can go for a few drinks now and again and be perfectl healthy, he woke every day fighting a battle against his problem. Do you think the NHS should stop treating patients who are are dying from Cancer because they smoke?
I agree that he was given a second chance and he fucked it up, but maybe he couldn't help it, and maybe if the NHS had made sure he was 110% booze free before he had the op then we wouldnt be having this discussion now.
Yes.

i dont really care if he was a good footballer, and i dont really give a fuk if hes dying either
what makes him so special that the nation needs to know?
he is/was a cock for drinking after he was given the gift of a longer life, deserves to die in a very painful way imo
anyway, even if alcohol addiction is a disease, its one which is cureable, and its his own fault for ruining his life, not like he had cancer and couldnt do anything about it, he had the choice, shoulda locked him in an alcohol free room for 4 years, that woulda solved his "addiction" and then we wouldnt be having this discussion and it wouldnt be the only fucking thing i've heard on the radio all fucking day
good riddance.....

I am good at football, so was George Best, I am outstanding at my job but I bet Mr Best couldn't run my business for me in my abscence to the standard I can, so that makes me better than him, I didn't waste an opportunity to restart my life and put my missus(Alex) through absolute hell, I'm a very caring person towards my lass(Gemma) so there again, I'm better than him.

I dont care what anyone says he was one of the most naturally gifted footballers of all time.
The only other person i can think of who would be as good would be duncan edwards.
The original Big Dunc.......
Agreed he was good at football, but i have to agree with what others are saying, you dont treat a second chance at life with such disregard.
It annoys me that he has acted like this, and my mate gets killed in a car accident. They say life aint fair and I guess this is a god example...
^^ Exactly Sorry to hear about ur mate
Thanks Dude. I think thats why I am a bit pissed off about everyone saying he was good at football and that he doesnt deserve it......balls

I tell you home truths and you can't deal with more like!
You do strike me as the immature kind of person though, with a Vicky Pollard bird under your wing.

he didnt deserve another chance

Ian surely you can see what we are getting at though.
I understand that yes, it must be tragic for his family, of course it is, they love him.
But it was also tragic for the family of the person who died and went on to donate an organ. Think about how they must feel. They agreed to have that members organs donated to give some one a 2nd chance, a second chance that their family member never got. Thats gonna suck to them. I think thats one of the worst things to do as a human, someone does you a HUGE favour, and you, in a way throw it back in their faces. Thats wrong
The organ could have gone to a much more grateful guy IMHO

Marriott, I agree with pretty much all you have said.

Just to be clear I've labelled those posts.
Post 1 is an example of reasoned discussion, which is welcome.
Post 2 is an example of bickering, which if it continues, I will close the thread.

Exactly, people die waiting for donars, he was lucky enough to get one which gave him a second chance and he just carried on drinking. What a waste, people sticking up for him shoudl think how would they feel if someone in their family was waiting for a donar then people like him go and throw one away

He got one simply because he was famous aswell, wich is also disgraceful. He was probably moved straight to the front of the que and someone else probably died waiting for another doner because of this.

Being fair to George, I don't think he chose to give in to drink and I don't think he chose to die slowly in the presence of all his family.
Some guy in Liverpool was run over this morning by car thieves stealing the car he was attempting to park in a lock up garage so he could go on holiday with his wife to celebrate his 67th birthday. He didn't make national news, and thats a worse situation, but people generally wouldn't buy papers if the news wasn't about famous people.
