By forcing his head onto the ball, in a goalward bound direction, beating the keeper and the ball landing in the back of the goal.
I ought to teach!

The players that stood out for England IMO were Joe Cole, Rooney and Gerrard, I think all the rest were a waste of time.
Joe Cole reminds me of Gazza in his prime, Cole can only get better with regular football.

Not at all.
Fair enough we did well to pull it back yesterday and the Argies had a full team out BUT its only one game and i for one am not going to get carried away with the win. It was only a few months ago that we were destined by some people not to even qualify for the World Cup, with a clueless manager who everyone wanted sacking, let alone winning the thing. people in this Country are too quick to change their opinion, and build their hopes up too easily, then are too quick to criticise when it all fucks up.
We set a good platform yesterday and it gave us something to build on in up and coming games, if Sven can resist making stupid changes just for the sake of it and get everyone playing as a team then i do belive we have a good chance of doing very well in Germany. The only thing that worries me slightly is the lack of strengh/experience in the Squad. Personally i think if we lose few key players we dont have the class to bring in like the Brazillains or the Argies, lets hope that doesnt happen and we can bring the World Cup home!

yes we did, we beat holland, a quality team, 3-1. looks like we have 2 new promising strikers to take to germany, in Luca Toni (as tall as peter crouch but a little more potant ) and Alberto Gilardino, quality striker.

More potent than Crouch Nooo!
Paul Robinson is more potent in front of goal than Crouch
Gilardino, is that the lad AC bought from Parma?

i think claud makelele, with all the hype about him having no balls infront of goal is more potant than crouch!
yes this is the lad that AC bought from parma, he was top scorer in serie A with 24/25 odd goals past 2 seasons, and he's banged in a few for club and country this year. he was also very highly regarded at u21 level.

I dont see why people can't get a little excited after beating the Argies. No denying we are one of the 5/6 teams that can win the World Cup, beating them only cements that claim further. So what we lost to N.Ireland and Denmark. Not much else to moan about imo. Topped our group didn't we?

Yeah, exactly dude... jus because we always cock it up one or another ( )
Noone can take away the fact that we have one of the best (if not the best bar Brazil) squads... with no injuries and a little luck... we CAN (not saying we will by any measure) but we can go an win this thing

Was jus gonna say, the fifa rankings are about as subjective as that claim that liverpool were somehow the best club side last year

Exactly. I'm not saying we will win it but we CAN win it. There are 5/6 very very good teams that could win the World Cup, no reason why we can't.

I agree that by beating the Argies that it does cement our claim that we can win the world cup, im not dening that we cant, i think we have the best chance we have had in years, but like you've said, there is another 4/5 teams that also have an equally good chance of winning it. All im saying is that i hope the English media/supporters dont built it up too much only to be slaugheted if we dont bring the trophey home. Go back a few months and read some of the comments made after the Denmark and NI games and you'll see what i mean. 90& of English fas wanted Sven out and we had no chace, now everyone's talking like our name is already engraved on the World Cup.
Yes, we did top our group mate, but IMO it was a very poor group, with only Poland that was ever really going to threaten us to top spot.
Im not trying to be negative, i'll be in Germany getting behinf the boys 100% as i always do, all im saying is dont read too much into one result

indeed Hell, if that German side reached the worlkd cup final then we shud be able to (altho in honesty Germany just benefited from all the top nations who didnt reach the knockout phase (Argies, France etc))
