Theres two sides to that statement. Less about the banter - and the important one - more about cars. Banter reduction alone wasn't the aim and hasn't been the outcome. And not once did I say 'no banter - all cars' - I am not unrealistic in what is possible or even what the users want. Nobody, myself included, wants a completely dry site talking about offsets and PCD all day long. Boring, pointless and not financially viable.
Many members got away with lots of banter for a good while, and I was happy to tolerate it in the name of keeping the site lively, and it was all in Off Day - or moved there - anyway, so it didn't matter.
My problem is that some of the people who were going a bit far were warned, even temporarily banned, and did nothing to change their behaviour when they returned. I've said it before but thats a risk. If I can't reason with someone and ask for things to be a particular way then perm ban is the only way. I don't take the decision lightly. I had enough shit off many people for why I *hadn't* banned people forever.
You mustn't misunderstand my aims - and TV didn't even do a bad job at all at getting them over. Get a handle on conversation, make the place enjoyable but don't lose focus. Its not failed me so far.

I browsed this site for about 6months before i signed up, used to be hilarious with Kolin, then bout 6 months after i joined the banter in OD changed like the tide and became more about posting links to funny videos than taking the piss out off fellow members, a nice mixture would be ace
