he reckons Warnes early bowling was much better than latterly despite the fact that he took his latest 300 wickets much quicker than his foirst 300 - he reckons his first 300 were taken by skill an his last 300 taken by respect an enigma - he thinks peopel respect his bowling too much an dont play it like they should :S

I'd go along with that. Like Strauss, he has no idea how to play Warne half the time. I definately agree that alot of batsmen show Warne too much respect. Spinners can be hit big time if the batsmen show confidence and commit to playing the stroke. Taking nothing away from Warne though, 600 test wickets is immence!

Indeed, I can see some sense in it... in gerneral I think a lot of cricketers show opponents too much respect an lose out for it... strauss, as u say, is a definate exampel of this!!

I'd agree with you both, I'm afraid Tiesto has too much of an orthodox view on this bowling away from the batsmen, though, getting them to swing at the ball outside off stump is daft when they can just watch it fly to Geraint Jones, they needed people out and they didn't get that, my opinion/theory worked, tiesto's didn't, proof is in the puffing I suppose.
As for Warne, the guys always been quality, in the 90's he was far better I'd say as people didn't know what to expect, whereas now they know the balls gonna turn round corners, now it's just a case of which ball it is per over.

If you mean the theory didnt work at the end correct. But most of the wickets throughout the game came from batsmen playing a shot outside the line of the stumps. I may have an Orthodox view of bowling but it gets alot more wickets than bowling straight at the stumps and hoping the batsmen is gonna miss with his bat and get lbw or bowled, which is highly unlikely. Also how do you know bowling straight at the wicket would've worked either? We will never know just look forward to the next test.

We had a limited number of balls in which to get them out. Australia didnt have to hit those balls. So why would tempting them to make a stroke work in this situation? I understand fully what you are saying but that wouldn't have worked in those circumstances. We needed wickets, they didnt need runs. So i'm reckoning we needed to bowl them out, or at least get them out LBW as they aren't stupid enough to get themsevles out through edging it to a slip when they don't have to.

I agree to certain extents that it was the wrong thing to do, but i personally dont think bowling straight would have made any difference. It was just Harmison bowled 2 poor last overs which tbh caused no trouble for the batsmen, even the wicket from Ponting wasnt a very good ball.

Really? I thought Michael Vaughn or Simon Jones deserved it more. Fair enough Ponting batted well but it was boring cricket, strike rate was barely above 50

And I know its test cricket so strike rate doesnt matter, but it was pretty dull. Enforced a draw though I guess

Not really about how much strike rate it was. It was that his innings saved his team in getting the draw, and batting under much harder circumstances than Strauss & Vaughn.

I guess. But 6-53 was pretty special.
As said above I know strike rate doesnt come into it.
Vaughn was batting under immense pressure seeing as his form has been terrible of late.
Maybe i'm biased, lol.
