Yeah, lived in kesgrave for the first 18 years of my life, know it well.......
There was myth about not building the grange farm estate further over onto the surrounding fields of the radar station as aparently the bits you see above ground only make up a small amount of the whole structure, it goes meters below ground.
Planning permission was granted in the late 90's for a golf course of all things on there!
Never been in there, was a good lil boy when i was younger! lol

Wasn't it an old US radar station from the cold war? I remember there used to be a load of HUGE radar dishes there when I was younger, now it looks like most of the hardware has been decommisioned and taken away but it'd be awesome to have a poke around there sometime.

lol i'm on that website now (28 days)...
It must take some balls to break into a mental asylum during the night!!!
How old do you reckon the people are on the site? they could just be kids 13-14 or could be in their 30's for all we know!

Jules - yes! i remember the dishes being up there, came down mid nineties, same time they started building grange farm!
Also the main mast used to have red beacons to stop planes runnin into it! the main mast is only about half the size now, they pulled the top half off eventually too

Seems all a bit serious! Some websites have been taken down by the US goverment!
On a complete tangent, I was moving some stuff about the house today when I found a couple of items I had collected a while back that you might have a interest in - a genuine WWII German gasmask (complete is metal carry case and even with the soldiers name tag still on!) and a unused Russian WWII gasmask (complete and in a linen rucksack)
Makes me wanna goto Landguard Fort on the Felixstowe coast, used to love running about that place when I was a kid (it was used as part of east coast sea defences during WWII) - I expect Till and Luigi know what I'm talking about.
