I'll keep that in mind Tim if I ever succeed.
Notice how nobody questions you on earning 35k from uni, albeit with a netter degree.

I know what job i wanna do and it will pay around 15k. However, i would rather do something i enjoy and get paid pennies than be bored shitless and get paid twice the amount.
I only needed a HND which i got but then decided i would do a degree as later in life i would regret not doing it. Right at this minute i regret doing the degree as i have a cw due in by 6:45 tomorrow and would rather chop my cock off than do it Done 21 pages so far, looks like i'm up all night Ask me tomorrow and i'll say i've no regrets though

If anyone really doubts that employers look for degree's then flick through the career section of the times on a thursday. Plentry of jobs with salaries ranging from 30-50k asking for graduates with approx 2-5 years experience. Thats where degrees really do pay off, when you get some experience to back it up.

the problem is unless u get on a graduate scheme ev every job pretty much asks for grad wiv experience but how are u supposed 2 get the experience if no is doing it??!!
fink it should be for the able, 50% of all kids just ruins the idea of higher education, i got 9 gcse's average of B, they said i could only do 3 A-levels, got 4 and 1 AS, wk before my exams i got told i was dyslexic.
the way i see it is......
rich kids get high scores, go and do great courses and get high grades and then go work FOR someone else. the person who has just done ok, got a ok degree etc etc but was good on the sports side runs his own business and employees the smart asses.
most students will go in2 a business like i do business tourism management, read books about finances, marketing, management demand and supply of such a huge market but dont get told about the effects and the impacts of 9/11 tsunamis etc. then wen they have 2 make a decision they have no knowledge cos it wasnt covered in the book they so religously(sp) read. think having a sandwich course like mine benefits medium students cos u get a job and more than likely get asked to come bac after u finish ur course, fink this is the way forward.

Some unis will help you get a job at the end of your degree. They may not help you with your cw in are uni but they will help find you a job at the end

You get experience by doing a sandwich degree. 2yrs in uni, 1 year work placement and final year in uni. That is the best way to do it.
I had the choice to do straight three years or a sandwich year (4 yr course). So glad I did the 4yrs now - it was extremely valuable

I know tehre is every possibility you could get a degree in anything and end up in McDonalds. £30k a year from the degree i'm doing is very possible. I'm doing it, i've done the research, so I don't really care what i'm being told on here.
Vibrio, there is something like a 50% drop out rate from 1st to 2nd year in computing, then more drop out before 3rd. Its in the top 3 most difficult in the uni afaik, so I have quite an advantage over the idiots sitting in technical colleges rebadged as uni's.

I'm not saying you can't get it just not straight from uni with little or no experience would be a very very lucky find indeed

I have no clue? Everything I said there is from sources a lot more reputable than you and from my own experience so i think you should STFU until you know what your talking about.
You must have lots of computing science knowledge with you molecular biology degree there.

I suppose I just take this whole "slag off IT degrees" slightly personally, but then again, I worked for an IT company before and during Uni, which is the way you get the 'experience' they require...

Degrees aren't worth much, its experience that counts.
Plus it all depends on how well you interview.

not slagging IT Tim I just think it's a bit unrealistic to expect 30K as soon as you leave uni

To sum up, a 2.1 degree in any subject from a top 10 Uni with a bit of work experience (penultimate yr internship), proof that you are an active person (extracirricular stuff) and the all important 26UCAS points will gaurantee you a better job than anyone with no degree (big 4 accounting/investment banking/management consulting).
Shit degree is worth shit all.
