whats the deal with this Lay betting?

Betfair are doing this challenge thing, if i do the 3 different types of bets they will give me a free tenner.

I dont understand it though

If i choose a game for there to be 7 ore more goals, and do a Lay bet, does that mean im betting there will be 7 or lerss goals in that game??

I cant work this out, if a Lay £2 i get this:

7 goals or more

If 7 goals or more: -£58.22

If less than 7 goals: £2.00

Does that mean if theres 7 or more goals i owe Betfair £58.22?? (even though i only have £32 in my account?

yes, lay betting is betting on the event not happening.

Lets say the lay odd's are 2/1 for man u to beat chelsea.

If you do a 10er lay (man u not to win. Basically chelsea to win or a draw), you will need to have 20 in your bank. Otherwise it wont allow it.

Now if man u win, you have 2 pay out 20, just like the bookies would. If chelsea win, or its a draw, you get there 10er.

a good reason to do a lay bet, if you had a good tip to back a horse at say 100/1 a month before the race. You put a 10er to win, it would return 1100.

The day of the race its been heavily backed and comes in at 7/1 to back and 8/1 to lay.

If you now put 50 on the lay.

End of the race, your horse wins, you collect your 1100 and pay out the lay bet 450, leaving you 650 profit.

The horse doesnt win you collect 100, from a 60 bet.

Therefore, you have made sure you cannot loose a penny and defo make profit, at the cost of downsizing your initial odd's for it to win

Man u to win, with odds of 4/1 i could never refuse a bet on my team, even with the youth team out, thats bloody good odds, well worth a look imo. £28.56 bet on that

if they loose this, they will b joining the record books as one of 7 to not get a single point! Kiev have lost almost their entire squad to injuries including their entire Brazilian contingent.

As for the other 2, they need to win, defo a good treble imo!

Farsley missing a few players, torquay full squad and need to win to cut the gap to aldershot
