I had similar once, my brother and his m8s are gobby skinny cunts. They saw me and one of the beasts from my gym in a club once and because we were there they suddenlty thought they were invincible.
anyway 15 mins later my brother comes flying over, "mark, someones starting on me", im like FFS and head over. we get there and the look on the lads face, he goes white as a sheet. My beast m8 goes up to him and starts to have words but isnt aggresive or anything.
Next thing we are intercepted by the doormen who give my m8 verbal. anyway the lads get ejected but my m8 has been made to look like a cunt.
After that moment i just said to my brother, you and your mates stay the fuck away from me and my friends if your out.

Yep completely, you gotta stick by mates wrong or otherwise, just keep reminding them about it
I remember stumbling into the toilets in local club was absolutely hammered, some lad I barely know was getting grief of these local scallies I kind of fell inbetween them whilst trying to go for a lash and broke it up

Similars happened to me, except its mates as i only have a little sister whose 19. Now that is a NIGHTMARE if i see her out as you can imagine. First time i saw her out when she turned 18 was manic and weird, if any guy got near her i told them to fuck off, but then i soon realised it was ruining her nights (as some were just her mates but i didnt know) so i let it be and just let her get on with it.
Although recently i saw her out and some guy was all over her and i could see she didnt like it, she told him to go away and he wouldnt leave, then i saw him grab her so obviously i started heading to him like a bullet, she saw me coming and told me to stop. I did and she turned to the guy and pointed at me, said "see that guy about to come and hurt you, thats my brother, i suggest you fuck off" his face was legendary, it'll never leave my mind. In the end he came up to me and was begging literally, he said he would buy me a drink so i went to the bar with him, got up there and i said "I want 2 drinks" obviously he said sure, bless him he had to pay by card as he didnt have the cash. Seen him out a few times since and he always buys me a drink now. Least the guy has a bit of respect now.
