Plenty of rust there lol, my corsa rusted in the same place on the filler neck. Do you pay your mate for welding or do you keep all the profits to yourself lol

Lol they are mates, welding on the black one has cost me a box of bud so far, this welding will be done by another mate who isnt quite as good (not his trade) but hes still decent - for free all it will cost me is the gas and wire

I will also strip the underseal where i can get to it, then rust protect, prime and re underseal, think i will probaby remive the tank and exhaust to do it, doubt ill remove the back axle though

Well them pics make me feel quite good about mine I don't have cloths

Your arches have gone in the same places as mine too.

GSi arches and bumpers aren't smooth. They have a weird texture to them.

How long do you reckon all the welding will take?

Well i think ill have mine smoothed - and im going friday afternoon to try and and clean them all up to bare metal - then saturday hopefully ill get all of the plates made and the rot cut out (may spill onto Sunday) but after that it will be a case of drop the tank and exhaust to make sure ive missed nothing/dont melt the lines

Then start welding - im aiming to have it welded by 1st feb which isnt ling then once welded ill decide how far i really need to go with under seal

Needs stripping to a bare shell and acid dipped, full resto work on all the rust and reassembling.

maybe £3k to do just the bodywork properly.

Or just polish the rust up with a wire brush and paint some hammerite over it.

Yea I agree, shove some more rags in it, thick coat of underseal and just thrash it about.

Save the effort for the other one

It will be made solid (plan to take my child in it) but at low expense - get it on the road then get on with the LET conversion for the other

Sorry to come off topic John....Just read some of the comments To be fair, in my ownership, the GSi wasn't actually that bad. It was mainly panel rust that should've been treated when it was painted, but it wasn't. Inexperience got the better of me in that respect. Apparently, the guy who bought it off me said it was too bad to carry on with so broke it and scrapped it? I genuinely didn't think it was that bad, considering age and mileage. My 200sx is worse than the GSI but again, it's an old Japanese box with 110,000 up it and has been driven daily in a Scottish seaside town for the last 4 years. It's bound to show signs of age and I don't care. It is what it is at the end of the day and I've never tried to make out it's concourse or mint. Common joke between my mates and I about it's condition, it's all fun and jokes.

Lighten up lads seriously
